i had one of these on my previous truck, 2021 Tacoma TRD Sport, and it sat flush along the top of the bed. The other weekend I had one installed on my 2024 1500 Limited and at the front section, portion that doesn’t flip, I notice it’s not flush with the top of the bed. See picture below.

Is this normal for our trucks? I know they are not water tight but seems like a lot of water and debris would get in like this.

thanks

Any resolution to your fitment question? Never had that issue with my past ones…

I am also currently looking at a MX4 for my ‘24 Limited - had them in the past on both Ram and F150, but been years since buying one and the current prices are staggering (like most things these days)… are these still the covers to have or is there something new to the market (realizing this is a bit subjective - but I want to be able to open it and still see from the video camera on the 3rd brake light). Also wondering where the best price is these days, my best so far is at tonneaucovered.com, but still just north of $1k - wow!

Not in any real hurry as my limited came with a factory cover, was just wanting something better than that…

Not normal. I have one on my 24 Laramie and it sits flush.

Connect with Amber @Realtruck for the best pricing. Bought mine from her and pricing was best around.

Not sure if you sorted out the fitment for your MX4. I bought the same cover for my 6’4” bed and had similar challenges. I installed and reinstalled this thing four times and believe I have almost figured it out.

It came down to three things for me: 1) while clamping the cover rail to the bed rail, it’s important to push and hold it flush while bolting the clamp. 2) don’t over tighten the bolt on the clamp. Doing so doesn’t secure it any more, but rather torques the cover rail up - as I turned the bolt, the back clamp pushed the bottom of the whole assembly inward and this the rail up. 3) the bulkhead seal provided with my cover was 3/4” thick, which raised the front edge of the cover a bit too high. I removed it and replaced it with 5/16” weather stripping from Home Depot, which helped. I reached out the Bak and they are sending me a 1/4” bulkhead seal.

I still see some daylight from the outer corners at the bulkhead. I tested the water-tightness by running the truck through a car wash. Unsurprisingly, I got some water in the bed at the front corners, but surprisingly not too bad considering the car wash is an unnatural amount of water. When I re-install the cover again with the new bulkhead seal, I’ll try to fill those gaps with more weatherstripping to see if I can reduce/minimize that water leaking.

This is my first truck, so I’m not sure if my expectations are too high, but I’ll keep tweaking it.
