Hi all. I just installed mx4 and I noticed a pretty large gap on both side of the tailgate when closed. Any idea how to close this area?

Yes, use weather striping. There is a company that sells it for the Ram. Or you can just use weather striping from the store.

I bought the kit and it closes the gap. It still leaks but covers up most of it. Would be nice if it came factory to close that gap.

Hope this helps:

ESI Ultimate Tailgate Seal with Taper Seal Compatible with RAM 1500 with RamBox https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B08L21DGNB/ref=cm_sw_r_apan_glt_fabc_ZKSXMWG8YM8G1TM4VQ56

I used the same item. Works great with my MFT and RetraxPro. BUT...the drawback is that the tailgate takes a much firmer push to close and the seal pushes back on the tailgate so that the auto-drop feature (keyfob or switch by the rearview mirror) does not drop the tailgate. It unlatches, but doesn't fall.

This kit has been very good and I'm fine with the tradeoff of a dust- and water-proof bed in exchange for having to slam it up hard and manually drop it.

Another item I used to seal my bed is some boat seal (gotta check to see what type it is) around the TOP of the tailgate. It has a self-adhesive strip that has been problematic. Instead, I just used some contact cement.

My bed with RetraxPro and the above-mentioned seals is about 99% waterproof. What little does get in goes UNDER my waterproof bedrug. (The bottom piece only: I did not get the full bed rug.)

ETA: This is what I used across the top of the tailgate, where it meets the RetraxPRO flap: https://www.homedepot.com/p/M-D-Bui...-Auto-and-Marine-Weatherstrip-01033/100175299
