Just recently ordered a quad cab back country. I saw a couple of videos where they said the payload was only 1500 pounds. Does anyone know the payload for sure? I looked at ram website specs and it shows 4wd quad cab lone star rated at about 1,900,but there isn't any specs for backcountry edition specifically. I'm getting kind of nervous because I need more payload for my camping gear and travel trailer

Well my '22 Big Horn which essentiallyhas all the same options in the Back Country package (offroad pkg, ramboxes etc) came from the factory with a 1320lb payload rating. Mind you mine is a Crew Cab.. so maybe a bit heavier than a Quad Cab so I would guess yours will have a higher payload than mine...but I doubt it will be anywhere near 1900lb

My quad cab has a payload of 1794, you should be around there

I hope it's at least 1700 if it's 1300 I will just let them keep it, they told me payload was best in class

Mine is 1442# payload. Equipped similarly to a back country. Don’t count on it. Sorry!

When you get your window sticker you can look it up on the website:

1900 payload is the max number. All depends how you optioned it. If you needed nearly 2000 payload for your needs a 2500 is a better choice unfortunately. My Backcountry is 1308lbs crew cab.

Is there a way to increase payload ?
No there isn't any way to change that number. What is your travel trailer numbers(weight, tongue weight and so on)?

You either gonna have to go with a less optioned truck or jump into a 2500. If your needing that much payload a backcountry probably isn’t the right choice.

I guess I'll have to make due, really love the truck, but passed on a tundra and a trail boss which had a lot better payload

Leaf spring suspension is probably why but you’ll enjoy the comfort of coil spring suspension but the trade off is the lower payload.

Class leading? Who said that.. Ford is by far class leading, the lighter the truck the more the payload. The ford is mostly aluminum and weighs 400-500 lbs lighter then our rams. Right there that is 400-500 more payload. Plus like others have said, leafs offer a lot more weight capacity or do a better job vs coils. Coils have a way better ride but less ability to haul.

Agreed….I think there was some kind of up sell here. I have always thought of ram more of a comfort truck compared to the others. But of course you have to pay a pretty penny for top tier comfort in ford or Chevy.

Hands down ford/Chevy beats

My backcountry payload is 1306 (towing is just over 11k). Mine is so low because of the extras I have (pano sunroof and rambox)

If op has a vin, he can check on ram website…the towing section

Exactly. My new 2022 Ram limited is loaded but doesn’t have the pano roof or the e torque.. 2 heavy weight options, and payload is still garbage lol. Don’t care though I love this truck lol.. if your towing anywhere near 8000+ a lot then buy a 3/4 ton because the tongue weight will be close to 1000 at that weight already. Which means only you can be driving and no other people or gear basically lol..

Payload- 1386
Towing- 11376

Well I paid for it by waiting 6 months from when I ordered it. It's not available now, but I waited a long time for it..lol

I ordered in December and wasn't available then, I already miss them... 😢

BackCountry Quad here, regular Hemi and 3.92 gears. Payload 1536 and towing 11,320. I came from a Frontier Pro4X with only 900lbs payload, so I was glad to break 1500.

Well technically, not a full 6 months. Here is my breakdown:

- Heard about this trim early June 2021. Placed an order with my dealer June 16,2021
- 2022 orderers started on September…but with my options I had to wait.
- gave up and bought something else.
-late December rolls around and dealer reaches out to me and said “ your order is here” bought last day of the year.

Same set up I ordered. I should be able to get by with 1536 payload, plus I'll be removing the tonneau cover. I thought my current tundra had around 1800, but just checked label and I'm right under 1500. Thanks for all the replies
