Aux back up lights

Has anybody done auxiliary back up lights? I'd like to hide a couple pods up under the bumper. KC makes some 12 watt pods, pulling that amount of juice, would it be ok to just tap off the backup light? I want them on only when backing up, so no switch in the cab, no wiring **** directly to the battery. Feedback?

You might like the VLED. You can wire it to the reverse light wire in the trailer harness. Here’s a thread:

Yep. I did this as well. Really easy. Really bright. And you don’t notice anything on the back of the truck since it’s just a license plate cover.
