I’m no fan of the auto start/stop on my 2020 and decided to do something about it. I researched a number of options and decided to go with the Autostop Eliminator because it doesn’t change the system and can easily be removed, if necessary. It plugs via provided jumper into the security gateway.

I ordered it on Monday using the discount code FBGM which took it from $99 to $85 and received it in the mail today. I immediately installed it in less than five minutes. It works as advertised as it was a breeze to install and eliminates the auto start stop. Highly recommended! And no, I don’t work for them, make a penny or get any other form of comp from them other than being a very satisfied customer.

See the link below for a description and installation video.

Thanks for posting this. I've gotten into the habit of pushing the button to disable it, but it would be nice if I didn't have to do that every time I start my truck.

The auto Stop/Start feature is very annoying indeed. At this price point for a truck one would expect to be able to disable this feature and not have to rely on purchasing a 3rd party device to disable it.

Truly not being an ***, honestly curious, but what is annoying about it? I forget about it most of the time, and most of my passengers do not even notice it.

I think quality control strikes again. Not all of our trucks experience the same level or refinement. Mine in particular makes a very obnoxious vroomf exhaust sound. Anyone who drives or rides can hear it and it sounds horrible. I don't feel it as much as hear it. Stock exhaust, etc. I've done nothing to my truck. Just is how it is.

Like everything else that we consider wrong or broken or sucky, RAM begs to differ and won't do a thing about it. So an aftermarket option OR just fiddling with the gear limiter is at least an option for those of us that didn't win the unobtrusive MDS lottery.

I've also noticed that a lot of folks complaining about MDS don't have eTorque - I'm not sure if they're tweaking crank speed to make it less noticeable, but it definitely seems to make a difference.

You could be on to something. Mine does not have eTorque, and mimics @Rototerrier experience to the tee.

For me, it is simple in that my truck lurches sometimes when it starts back up and other times it takes a while to get power to the wheels and get moving. When at a stoplight it isn't a big deal but when I'm sitting at a stop sign with traffic whizzing by me, I want to be certain I have the power when I need it to make a right or left. Have had stop/start give me a pucker more than once which caused me to say enough in hopes one day they will have an update to the system to fix this. I checked with my dealer and he said this is the way it works for now...

Personally, I tend to take advantage of the progressive brake switch - if you just hold the brake really lightly or start to release the brake before taking off, it should start the engine... takes practice, though

Yes, in fact that is what was recommended by my Service Manager. I tried to do that and this is when I was getting the lurching. Perhaps I wasn't feathering the brake pedal enough but that is the good thing about the Eliminator in that you can turn it off with the press of the Auto stop/start switch so I can try it again.

No stop/start system can be permanently user disabled from the factory. If the manufacturer wants to be able to claim the fuel saving (and emissions) benefit then the government requires the feature to automatically reactivate with every start.

In Southern California its pretty warm throughout the year and when the truck turns off at a stop, so does the cold A/C...

FYI...just ordered another Eliminator for my daughter-in-law's 2020 Ram 1500 Laramie.

I utilized the latest discount code of FBGM which reduces the price from $99 to $85!!!

And yes, this thing has been flawless on mine since ownership. I was up front with my Service Manager when I took my truck in to get the trailer brake flashed. I've worked with him for a few years and he's always be up front. He stated as long as the Eliminator doesn't cause any problems then there won't be an issue with the warranty being voided. He also asked me for the website as he wants one for his Ram as it was undetectable on his scantool. ;-)

After dealing w that same feature on my wife's escape and both of us hating it , made me chose the non e torque truck over the equipped one . Glad fate stepped in ...

I ordered it on Monday using the discount code AUTOVLOG which took it from $99 to $90 and received it in the mail today. I immediately installed it in less than five minutes. Why buy the Etorque if you're just going to disable the stop/start? Doesn't make much sense....you spent more money to have it...just to spend more money to disable it? Lol.

Well, you obviously don’t understand the system. Disabling the Stop/Start does not disable the rest of the benefits provided by the eTorque system. Less brake wear, better cooling as explained at 9:10 of the video, much smoother transmission shifts, initial start when first moving, helps keep the engine in MDS longer (which is smooth as silk on our two family eTorques), etc. I’m not certain but believe it may even help with AC as both are arctic cold in 99 degree weather!! Plus, like Ron White, I’m LOADED and spend my money on eTorque, hookers and tequila!

See below video as there are many other benefits of eTorque even when Stop/Start is disabled:
