So trucks back into dodge. The mechanic I talked too said he did that service update last time I was in...so he's going to play around with it and see if he can figure out what's going on with it. 
He can fix it.
Eta: turns out everything is programed the way it should be, so he's going to talk to the engineers on Monday and see if they know what to do.
