Auto dim high beams

Auto head lights is not the same as auto high beams. Auto head lights allow the vehicle to automatically turn the headlights on/off as the ambient light dictates. I don’t recall right now, but the auto high beams feature was included in the higher option packages offered.

Goatman, Thank you for the reply. Upon further research I realize that I have to get the mirror with the sensor module before I can enable this function.

Speaking of that, do you know the step by step procedure to program this function either with Jscan or AlfaOBD?

Just wondering if you might know why the dealer said i didn’t have the option to turn on the auto high low beam i have a 2022 rebel level 2 with rain sensing wipers but no auto high low i got them to look at the dealer and was told no option that doesn’t make sense my 2018 sport had it if i get alpha obd will that do it? Thanks for any info you might have

Sorry to bring this topic up again after several years. So… I have the “auto” setting on my light switch and small square white sensor on the front of my rear view mirror on my 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn. However. The auto dimming high beam feature does not work when I set the lights to auto and push the stalk to high beams. High beams turn on but I get no message or functionality that the auto dimming feature is enabled. and… I don’t have a line item on the <settings>, <lights> menu in “Uconnect” to enable/disable the feature. Do I have to get this “programmed/re-programmed” at the dealer or does my truck not have the proper hardware to enable this function even though I think it does?

Hi did you ever figure it out? Trying to see if i can get it working on my 2022 rebel was told i don’t have it by dealer but makes no sense when i have the rain sensing wipers so any help would be greatly appreciated!!

The dealer will never enable this for you as your truck was not supposed to have the option.( I think they refer to it as the sales code) All the hardware is there and it is possible to enable it if you purchase Alpha OBD software and the hardware to connect to your truck which many have done including me when I had my 22.

You can enable them with JSCAN as well if you are iPhone inclined.
