Apple just dropped the 26.2 iOS update. Anyone update their phones and try CarPlay yet? If you had issues with audio skipping before, did it solve the issue? Or did new issues come up?

I am terrified of updating my iPhone because while my CarPlay experience is less than stellar, it can always be worse!

I'm on their beta OS list. The one I tried prior to the final 26.1 ended up causing me to lose IOS app icon function at bottom of screen when in carplay full screen. Touching them would make my climate control go berserk since its same screen position technically. Got a bit timid since I commute and music is life. LOL

As for the pauses, clicks etc, I'm still getting the random pauses with any audio source on 26.1 final. Uconnect ver is up to date as well.

Update: iOS 26.2 installed tonight and so far no audio issues.

I haven't updated to 26.2 yet. Yesterday, I had a route mapped in carplay and it hung up. I realized that it was stuck when I passed my exit and it told me the exit was 2.4 miles ahead. I switched to the truck's native nav and used it for a bit then switched back and carplay was functioning again. I'm not sure what happened there, but it was the first time I'd used it since upgrading to 26.1. If ti happens again, I will go ahead and upgrade to 26.2 to see if that fixes the issue.

Well, that's 2hrs in the truck riding with my music adhd self. I still get the random pauses from any audio source, but if that's the only problem Uconnect gives me, I'll take it. As far as CarPlay functionality, everything seems 100%.

I’ve driven about 3-hrs since updating to iOS 26.2 and knock on wood, no issues thus far!

More options to disable:

iPhone: disable widgets, reset apps in CarPlay. Also reset network settings on the phone

Update. It’s still skipping. Not as noticeable from 26.1 but still there.

Just adding some commentary - went on a 6hr trip with iOS 26.2 installed, 5hrs into trip and maps froze, so ended route on phone and then restarted a new route and lost CarPlay connection to truck, neither wireless or wired would work, so used Bluetooth to at least get voice instructions through the speakers. So, unfortunately, for me, I continue to get the skipping and dropping entirely.

Its all hit or miss. I use two phones a personal android and a work iphone. I use both and log alot of miles, most trips are 9+ hours one way. Whether running aa or acp they both will lock up randomly, sometimes not at all and others several times. This does NOT matter whether in a RAM, durango, pacifica or any other random car make as I rent cars alot too when air traveling. This is not a dodge issue it is simply an enheriant issue with aa and acp whether wireless or wired. Sure some are worse like with my previous 4th gen truck pre aa/acp ucconnect running a newer 8.4 always locked up and was frustrating, but I can say for sure uconnect 5 both in my 2025 durango and 2022 1500 is far more stable and reliable then ucconnect 3, 4 and 4c. I believe there are other factors unrelated to the vehicle that cause these issues (if the screen for disassociated radios, modules and usb hubs are not the culprit) and come down to the phone itself. I have more experience than most given running two phones and drive more than most and certainly with the variety of vehicles I drive year-round. At this point from all my research and testing, I have not found a direct resolution even after replacing phones, resetting, changing radios, hubs, modules etc. Now of course, an outdated phone is more of the issue than anything else for instance I had an iphone 11 running ios 26 and it would run acp issue free maybe 10% of the time, so old phone running new phone software was the issue in that case. Just some insight as I see most people hate on the truck when more than likely it is not the truck that is causing the issues.

I had some problems connecting with 26.1, which after some retrying and pushing buttons seemed to heal itself. Did not do any reboots or resets. Also have had some problems switching from wireless to plugging in the USB cable. Not consistent enough to clearly state the problem or how to recover from it. Maps lost a useful item. Before 26, tapping the map on the car display would bring up a dialog showing "home" and "work." Now there is a list of destinations which does not necessary show the most recent or common destinations.

Maps is also supposed to track the routes I generally use if different from the suggested route (I clicked "yes" for this as it would be nice). So far, maps has not adopted my preferred routes.

Have since upgraded to 26.2. Have not noticed problems with music, have not used iTunes much with the new OS.

Can’t say the same about my experience. CarPlay with my BMW x3 and Nissan frontier worked perfectly so I expected no issues. It’s very frustrating.

My inconsistency continues. No problems with music halting or pausing, but when switching from FM radio to iPhone (iTunes), I lost CarPlay for a short bit. Then it was back... And the maps still knew where I was and the route to destination was still there. And then no more problems.

And another weirdness as to not having my home and work dialog. per my previous post.. When leaving my work site today, the dialog for home showed up again. A good thing, but still why the inconsistent behavior? I suspect there will be some more bug fixes in 26.3.
