Am I the only one that has a key spot issue with the 5th gen?!?!? Probably lol.
But… I always feel like I never have a good spot to put my keys in my 5th gen. So, a quick idea with my bother-in law and he designed and 3-D printed this little key “shelf”. Slides in between the two trim pieces tight and perfectly, no drilling or anything. I did put a comment strip under it just for reassurance.
Is this a good idea?
Am I just crazy?
Anyone else crazy and would be interested in buy one? Not even sure on a price lolIMG_1343.jpeg

I dunno....

I could see going through a dip or a pothole or something and having it fly out onto the floor. And then me shifting around and crushing it with my heel. Or having it bounce under the seat in some spot where human hands won't reach. I'll leave my key in my pocket.

Pocket is the right answer. No reason it needs to be out (and lost or left behind). I'm kind of scratching my head as to why someone would actually take it out of their pocket in the first place.

I take it out of my pocket for remote start, and only because I have not yet learned which end has that button. Then it goes back in the pocket. As it is, I leave my phone in the truck or my other car and walk away far too often.

Same here. In 5 years of having this truck, not one time has the fob left my pocket from the time my day started until I got back home

Looks cool but mine is always in my pocket.

Now with all that said, I always like to see a creative idea made into reality with a 3D printer. That’s the Maker spirit
I have been thinking about getting a 3D printer. Your sentiment is well placed and I commend the OP for using it to develop a solution for his purposes. While not a solution for a problem I have, I in no way criticize the OP for doing so or for asking about interest in the solution. Still not a solution for me, but others might find it useful. The Maker spirit is a good thing.

If you pursue, I'd recommend considering making it a cubby with a top/sides.

For me: Belt loop or center console.

Y’all must be law enforcement. The rest of us carry a handcuff key tucked in the back of our britches.
Easy to access when your hands are cuffed behind your back
