Any rc fans?

Sounds like a nice plane to fly. I used to fly RC planes a long time ago. Most of them were powered gliders and trainers. I did build a J3 Cub with an 8 foot wing span. Never got to fly it though because it was destroyed in a move. That was a sad day. I was also into RC boats and cars/trucks. In fact, I had a race track in my back yard, complete with driver's stand. We would have races every Thursday in the spring and fall months. Summer was too hot and we couldn't keep the track wet enough to keep the dust down. I still have most of my RC stuff collecting dust in the garage.

I'm pretty heavy in the RC world, until most recently my new hobby of Jet Ski fishing has taken up my interest, but still do RC a lot.

Mainly RC plane foamies, 1200mm Warbird types with 4S lipos.
1/5th scale gas and brushless electric trophy trucks and buggies
1/10th scale electric indoor race 4WD
1/10th scale crawlers
100 mph+ electric RC boats.

In the world of RC, other than real jet turbine planes, the brushless RC boats is probably the most awesome to see in person. These boats will hit 100 mph in a few seconds, made of reinforced carbon fiber and kevlar to handles the stresses, just awesome machines. I love my planes as well, usually the cheapest and easiest form of RC these days, especially with Spectrum bind and fly radios/receivers using SAFE select and gyros, you can start flying with nearly zero training successfully. Plus easy and cheap to fix, the least strain on batteries and drivetrain systems compared to cars or boats.

k now we have a thread for this.
legit question:
where can I find a 5th gen DT RC truck that's as close to the real thing as possible?

Only the 3rd gen was licensed by HPI and I have only been able to locate 1 NOS in the world. I would like a 5th gen body for my crawler.

I don't think I've run across one. Hobby grade level RC vehicles usually focuses on stylizing a body to fit a RC chassis, rarely does it look accurate to real life, kinda like how a Baja 1000 Trophy truck looks in comparison to the real thing. The exception being crawler specific RC, they tend to be accurate, but I haven't seen a single body or kit with a DT 1500 RAM.

Your best bet is traditional box store RC cars, like what you find at Walmart if you want something that actually looks scale. The quality however tends to be lower on those, but I haven't seen one of those either.

This is the closest I've personally seen, not a 1500, but you get the idea, he took a die-cast model and converted it to a RC truck.

dang... i've been searching but I can't find one.
found JT and even land rovers but not the 1500 DT.

I guess the wait continues lol

Me as well, I've been looking. There are a few nice die-cast models, especially of the Rebel, but nothing in the RC world yet. That's reserved for Raptors and Wranglers it seems.

yeah lol im not holding my breathe here, seeing how things are for our platform.
simply not enough demand and not enough enthusiasm for companies to cater to us.

im gonna wager that I get my PW first before a DT RC car shows up lol

Proline used to make a 4th Gen 1500 body for short course and a narrow style body for monster trucks but it looks like they have been out of production for a while now. They make an original Power Wagon for rock callers and TRX body for the Traxxas Xmaxx

i was gonna settle for the TRX one but once i saw how far those wheels sit i'm out lol
unless there's any underside that makes it look normal.

Couldn’t you just swap the body onto another chassis if thats the case (sorry i know nothing about RCs) lol.

You can but depends on the scale and look you're going for

Cruise eBay and look for a Pro Line 1500 body for Traxxas Slash/short course truck, tires are tucked in the fenders and wheel base is proportional to a full size vehicle1000008445.jpg

I think Boogie is looking specifically for a scale DT 1500.

that i don't know LOL i have zero knowledge on RC cars

I had a radio-controlled car from a German website. If you want I can show it to you. I bought it for my son, but I was actually interested in playing with it myself.
