Anti slip or E locker for snow/ice

You’re going to get conflicting information in this thread too... There is not one set-up that is universally the best in all circumstances. Limited Slip might work better in light snow and slush, and the elocker might be better in deep snow, however, nothing is really good on ice. Actually weather appropriate tires are probably more important.

I always find it interesting that after the first big snow fall every year I see countless trucks and SUVs in ditches. Why? Perhaps they feel invincible because they’re driving an AWD or 4WD.

There are many YouTube vids of people demonstrating their set-up. This is just one w/the elocker in light snow/ice:
.
The video didn't explicitly state if the Rebel has LSD (limited-slip differential) or not, but I assume that the three comparisons in that video were (a) regular 2WD (no LSD), (b) 2WD with E-locker engaged in rear, and (c) 4WD high without E-locker engaged. Is that right?
.
Thanks.

Kind of correct. If you have E-lock you can't have LSD. Therefore when he is in 2wd it's an open diff. When in 4x4 high its an open diff with power going to front and rear wheels with the traction control modulating brakes on wheels slipping to send power/torque to opposite wheel

Your best bet on snow and ice are snow tires

I agree w/ktl5005. While it technically doesn’t have LSD, both tires still spun. At the 6:28 mark he is in 2WD w/axel lock off, and you can see that both rear tires were spinning, which is consistent with what happen when I recently backed into the wet grass and nailed it, which tore up the grass under both tires for at least 10 feet without the axle locked, so I’m not too worried about traction... and “if” needed, I have the elocker as an option.
