Another voltage question....

2022 Rebel w/ etorque. 5.7 hemi

have read as many voltage/battery threads as i could find! truck is just under 3 years with 23k ish miles

last week truck was DOA - was able to start it with Norco pack but before thast nothing worked - no door locks, lights, etc - once charged and driven for a while, overnight voltage would be 11.2 ish - after reading many battery threads replaced 12v with X2 AGM - when running voltage showed (and confirmed by radar detector) 14.5 ish always and overnight cold was approx 12.3 - when started would immediately jump to 14.5

after 2 days (today) overnight was still 12.2 but driving voltage was steady at 12.5 (see pic) - i know that should be around 14.5 - it doesn't vary - just seems locked at 12.5 - the gauge circled in yellow in pic shows needle toward L

the new battery was fully charged when installed and showed normal driving voltage all that day - didnt drive the truck yesterday

any thoughts other than take it to dealer? thx in advance

Start with getting the alternator checked.
Possible bad battery, even though new.
Possible parasitic drain.
OR a combo of all three.

thx - that was my thought process as well - think parasitic drain least likely because it doesnt go below 12.3 if not driven for a couple of days and the way it goes right to 12.5 and stays there

from what i understand i dont actually have an alternator because of the etorque system - but there could be something going on in that system
 
out of curiosity did you happen to see if the instrument cluster actually turned off after the truck was shut off? i also have a 22 and my truck died overnight a couple months ago out of nowhere. after jumping had the battery load tested and results showed it as being good. found out a couple weeks later that the electronics in the vehicle weren't properly shutting off (instrument cluster and the lights for the buttons around the 12 inch screen would stay on for hours after the truck was turned off, hardwired dash cam wouldn't enter parking mode and would just continuously record the whole time).

I always manually deploy my power running boards through the uconnect screen before shutting the truck off, and while I was having issues with the truck's electronics not properly shutting off I was somehow able to resolve the issue by shutting the truck off without manually deploying the power running boards. haven't had the same issue since even though i've gone back to manually deploying the running boards again.
 
that's interesting - i didnt notice that but will look for it now - i did have similar issue with dashcam not entering parking mode but assumed power and ACC wires were reversed - addressing that this week
 
so after reading SO many threads here and other dodge forums....seemed reasonable that the IBS needed to reset to recognize the new battery type - removed negative cable on battery for 4+ hours, reattached, and started - so far all good - voltage meter back to 14.0 - did not lose any settings that i can tell so far - i think when the battery placed changed the batteries they used a "settings saver" or something - that is a mistake - from what i understand and can now confirm so far, there needs to be a total disconnect to prompt the IBS to reset - hope that helps
 
Same boat for me tonight. been noticing my 22 battery voltage below middle so i started keeping n eye on that gauge and its been creeping below 13... tonight drove it home from work, at he first light when the etorque shut off it did not restart when i took my foot off the brake... just got a bunch of lights about the battery and the stop/start system and my battery was at 11.1 and wavered down to 10.9 even.

I have some warranty work to get done so i'm just gonna have the dealer check it out. 3 years is a short time but i'm hearing thats realistic for these newer electronics heavy techy trucks....

sidenote: no alternator on these engines... the etorque Engine Generator takes its place.... which i'm dreading having to do any repairs on.

but it's seeming like this is just the battery from what i've also read including this thread. so i'll go replace and recommend whoever i have do it does NOT use a settings saver... thanks for that tip!

What size X2 battery did you use?

If you have a mopar evts then thats probably the issue, if not then start with the charging system and battery. If it sits a lot without being on a maintainer then you have a sulfated battery and needs to be replaced.

What size X2 battery did you use?
12V 94R AGM DUAL X2 48

in the days since, my voltage gauge will show it regularly in the 13's while driving - it seems to be working as I'd expect with it raising as you brake, etc - I might be completely wrong but from what I understand the 48v and converter through the IBS feed the 12v only what it senses it needs - so I'm assuming that because the battery is so new and is so charged, the IBS realizes that. I've checked voltage at the 12v numerous times with a tester and it is always 100% and gets normal results on charging, etc. Hope that helps (and that I'm correct!)
