Another leaky truck thread

I have a 2020 Rebel and after 3 long attempts and about 50 days down I still have a substantial leak somewhere and my drivers floor is filling with water every time it rains. They have already pulled the fender and sealed all that side up per the service bulletin. Still leaks like clockwork. Unfortunately for me it was not discovered until after the 12,000 mile period my state gives for a lemon law. Is there any avenue to pursue when it can not be fixed under warranty? I really do not want to get into a legal battle, however I have not shortage of lawyers at my disposal in my line of work. At this point between labor time, rental fees, parts, it would have been cheaper for RAM to just replace the truck.

I had a similar issue. My dealer did the service bulletin, but it still leaked on the DL side floor. Here is what I posted after it was fixed, in case it may help you/them track this down. They actually looked at a wrecked RAM to see this panel, and figured out that was the culprit. Over a year later and no leaks.

Water Leak May Be Fixed!
I want to report that they may have fixed my water leak finally, in case it helps someone else track down the problem. They had to take apart a wrecked truck to see what it could be. They did do the Star report #S1923000026 months ago, and that stopped the leak some. The remaining leaks were apparently coming from under a metal panel on the cowl, maybe on the side of the cowl? I guess the panel is a one time install, so once they took it off, they had to order a new one to replace it. They said that under this cowl panel, there are three body seams that come together. My Rebel did not have any sealer on these seams. It also required taking out the wheel well. Hope this helps anyone else out there that has a leak they can't fix. My carpet is still dry after a day of down pours, so we shall see if it continues. Glad to have my Rebel back after 52 days in the shop....

Thanks for the info! I am going through the Arbitration process right now, I see others have gone that route with no luck but its about all I can do at this point. The case managers want the truck back again to give it another try. I just want a truck that doesn't leak....or smell like musty mold at this point.

I just noticed my 2020 limited has a water leak somewhere. My passenger floorboard near the door seal and trim was soaked after a long week of rain. Took it into the dealership and they said they could not figure out where the water was coming in from. I’m picking my truck up tomorrow, hopefully they left it outside since we got a good down pour today.

Took it into the dealership and they said they could not figure out where the water was coming in from. I’m picking my truck up tomorrow, hopefully they left it outside since we got a good down pour today.

so far they have fixed 5 leaks on mine. The star case SB with adding seam sealer to the body seam under the front fender, the door seal at the bottom of the door, there was a leak where a harness passed through a panel, there was a hole in the sealant up by the headliner, and a leak at the break pedal draining down from the cowling. Good luck. Mine had to go to a specialist shop and I am still not convinced its fixed. I just got it back two days ago. Just FYI, if they don't "find anything" FCA will not count it as a repair attempt. I would not accept it back without them either finding something or sending it out to a specialist or having a specialist come in. Mine was more prone to leaking when the front of the truck was downhill.

I might as well join the group of the leaking ram, 2021 Ram Lonestar no sunroof 2 months old 3375 miles on it and water on driver and rear floor board which caused mildew to form on rear floor mat, I made my first appointment with dealer next week, I appreciate all the input that is here so I can convey this to my dealership service and hope to get all leaks on the first time. I traded in a Ram Classic for this new model it didn't leak I am so disappointed, love the truck but not wanting to deal with this only 2 months in.

Mine took 4 trips to the dealership and one to a local air and water leak specialist called “water doctors” before it was sealed. 5 leaks total and its in its third carpet. If the shop fixing it is not a body shop I would strongly suggest talking with the service manager and having them work with another dealer who has the capability to do body work…or send it to a specialist who knows all the TSBs on the water leaks on these trucks. Open up a RAM customer care case now, they can be useless on a lot of issues but they do have some power to authorize a rental vehicle if the dealer cant get you a loaner. They can authorize it to go to an outside specialist out of the dealer network. And at the end of it all they can extend your warranty for you.

Take note of how the vehicle sits in your driveway, the angle it sits sometimes amplifies a smaller leak. Mine had A LOT of leaks. I think the machine building it was about out of sealant. Who knows.

Wow this is crazy to hear all these incidents. I just drove the family on a long vacation cross country. Went through a couple of monsoon-like down pours where I could barely see the road. So far so good. No leaks.

Jbenevides89, what all did they fix, I just got mine back from the dealership yesterday, light to heavy rain 1 hr todsy, and I still have a leak. They replaced rear window, and removed and retorqued 3rd brake light. The worst is all the additional damage that came with it, which I have ram care involved in.

5 leaks, 2 behind the front fender, one was the service bulletin thats a star case. One at the top of the Drivers pillar, one behind the brake pedal, and the door seal itself. There are other service bulletins for leaks in the back where yours appears to be. Demand new headliner and if the floor is wet make them replace the carpet.
