Air Lift vs. factory air suspension

1st post. Purchasing a Ram and soliciting some advice.

Test drove a Limited and, compared to a F-150, the air suspension was noticeable and much better. Comparing a Laramie w/ coil over to a Limited with air suspension, the difference was noticeable but acceptable.

I don’t want the complexity of an air suspension setup—bags, compressor, tank, and lines—nor do I want the consequence of the system leaking/failing.

I don’t care about the 2” drop for “Entry/Exit” nor do I care about the 2” lift available with “Off-Road 1/2.”

Will using an Air Lift 1000HD afford any of the ride benefits of air suspension (save correcting squat with a load) whilst avoiding the complication of an air only suspension?

That`s just an add on load leveling kit, not going to improve the ride quality from the springs.

If you are ok with the ride on a laraime then that sounds like the route you should go. you can also "upgrade the suspension to your liking and budget as you get familiar with it and if you tow than the helper bag systems will be ideal for you. my limited has 105k and has 0 issues with air suspension. take that for what its worth.

Thank you. That's what I expected. I don't think we'll haul enough to squat it...3500 lb boat/trailer with 200-300 lbs of tongue weight. We do have a 7500 lb boat/trailer with 400-500 lbs of tongue weight but I don't anticipate towing that much.

Thank you for the reply. A F-150 owning co-worker said if he'd do it all over again, he'd get a Ram with air suspension. Looking at the vehicle I just sold, a 2011 VW Touareg, the underbody corrosion really makes me hesitate to run air suspension. Just pulled the trigger on a 2023 Laramie without air suspension.

Good choice. I'm pretty sure this system only exists so they can force a service visit anyways lol
 
Biggest place I’ve seen issues with air suspension is cold weather after the 2nd or 3rd year. No personal experience, as I’ve stayed away from it for this reason. Living in NW MT both my buddies with air suspension (1 limited and 1 Rebel) have ended up on bump stops more than a few times. Again no personal experience, just thought I’d add what I’ve seen. Still plenty driving around that seem to be fine for what it’s worth🤷🏻‍♂️

This is very true! Air is definitely not for cold weather states etc.
