While I'm fooling with my rear suspension I'm playing with the idea of air bags or spring upgrade.
I've never used or installed the coil spring air type bags but I have a lot of experience with springs, leaf springs, struts, and normal air bags.
I've got a 2020 Laramie with off road package. I don't think that has anything to do with suspension.
I don't want any sagging when towing or hauling. I hate the way it looks and drives.
What are the pros and cons of each and what would you recommend? Maybe Rebel springs

  • Springs:
    • When not towing, the ride can be rough due to much heavier spring rate and no weight
  • Bags in springs:
    • When not towing, deflate the bags and your ride will be the same
    • when towing, inflate the bags to "support" the weight.
    • Retains the ride quality when empty and supports the rear end when towing. Best of both worlds
    • The only downside is it can be a pain in the rear to install.
  • Bags:
    • Not sure since no personal experience.

Rebel springs are the same as your off road package springs.
Perhaps look into load distribution hitch?

Timber Grove bags are the way to go. Solid, no cutting, just pull your bump stops out and bolt them in. The ride is just slightly rougher than stock because you need to keep some pressure in them, but it still rides better than a leaf spring truck.

Or a WDH. I got my bags because I haul heavy in the bed more often than I tow.

Many seem to use the Airlift 1000HD bags that go inside the coils.

Another possible option are upgraded coils. Tuftruk made for the 4th Gen and I believe there is another brand for the 5th Gen.

2nd vote for Timber Grove CRM’s. They will offer you the ability to adjust rear ride height based on your load. Bag inside coil spring will not. Those only expand inside the spring to stiffen it. You have to air them up before adding load for them to work or you will just be expanding the bag inside a compressed spring. I’ve had both and will never go back to the bags inside the spring after using TG CRMs.

Is it missing some parts? I have no clue.. I have him down to $160

Looks like it has all the bolts, but it's missing all the tubing for the air hoses.
I was assuming pump air tubing etc. was on me.
I'm going to grab them tomorrow. I think $160 is a pretty good deal and now I have to research pumps

I have an Airlift WirelessOne. It's pretty nice, I mounted it under the cab. I used to have the Load Controller in my Titan that had the compressor in the cabin with the panel gauge, and it worked really well. It was just loud as hell when you were inflating the bags.

Those look like the ASAMs, which are assist bags. They work in addition to the coil springs whereas the CRMs replace the coil springs.

I got them because they looked to be the highest quality, no cut/drill set at the time. If you keep your bump stops you can go back to stock extremely quickly. They've been great for me for 5.5 years, and I've had 1800+ pounds in the bed multiple times. I have them linked to a single line, and I haven't had any issues of uneven bags.

Ive been running the supplemental airbags for a few years (Airlift 5000’s) they have been great for towing a heavy boat, if i was not lowering the truck I would have stuck with that setup….

I got them today for $160 with the lines. I'd like to get a self leveling kit with onboard air. I was also thinking going with a 35% increase spring to cover the extra weight of all my gear this the decked system. I really don't need to add more projects
