I’m trying to find a new bumper for my ‘23 1500.
I am interested in the Wicked but would like a skid plate.

I have also been looking at the Addictive Desert Design and DV8.

Does anyone have experience with DV8?

I mostly use the truck on road but get out on the trails 1 or 2 ties a month in AZ when the weather is cool.
Any other suggestions are appreciated.

I'm going with Rough Country and also because it has the skid plate. I hate seeing all the crap underneath.

DV8?
one of my customers showed me their stuff found on Aliexpress before.
if you want a functional bumper that actually offers protection, stay away from china ones.

the rough country ones are thin material (compared to other brands that have roots in actual offroading instead of making cheap stuff for mall crawling) featuring powdercoating quality commonly found on china products as well, despite they swearing up and down that it's made in US. am i saying it's MIC? no, but the quality does reflect that.

your best bet are either gonna be ADD, Expedition One, Ironman 4x4, or go custom with the pre-runner style bumper.

I'm going to be mocking up a front skid plate for mine to connect to front crossmember. Thinking it might help some with fuel mileage instead of air just hitting the flat area behind the bumper. Just need time to do it. Havent had a free weekend for a while with working at local drag strip.

One of my local shops said DV8 was about the same quality of ADD. They had some Jeep ADD in the shop but didn’t have any DV8 to compare.

It’s hard shopping from pictures and specs. That why I came here.
Thanks

I talked to Wicked today. He said he would probably be able to work up a skid plate for it.

Yeah, I had asked when I got mine, but he was just trying to get the design down. I was his R&D truck. Maybe he will call me up again to mock up the skid plate.

Majority are about the same, the coating is a different story. I as others ran Chinese on Wranglers and they have held up great and stock isn't very thick. I know you always promote going for broke to people.

When it comes to bumpers, are you going for form or function? Cause the thinner or more cheaply.made the bumper, the more it is just for looks and won't hold up as well when needed to be used as a recovery point, or front end protection. Not on my truck, but Wicked Bumpers has posted multiple testimonials from customers, and even the shop trucks of hitting deer at speed with little to no damage.

i dont know what to tell ya. lots of the made in US ones I've came across all feel thicker than those cheap ones.
also seen a few aftermath of crashes involving metal bumpers and one first hand experience involving an ARB bumper clipping a deer up on highway 550 in Colorado, bumper was fine and didn't even shift but the deer was not.
if it's for looks then sure, whatever works. if it's for actual protection, my eyeballs and my experiences tells me to stay the hell away from those cheap ones.

oh and im not promoting going for broke to people.
i promote: 1. made in USA by Americans 2. save up and buy quality 3. reward companies that do R&D to solve actual problems instead of just order in bulk from aliexpress and slap their company logo on it 4. buy once, cry once. Do it correctly the first time and not worry about it instead of do it incorrectly and cheaply and then spend time and resources to correct the problem later.
now, all those happen to require big budget but it is what it is. Doing things correctly is not cheap, and that's what "saving up" is for.

really wish that tariff would stick, just so we can weed out some low quality products and companies in this industry.

ADD powdercoating, construction, and weld are all so much better.
