Following to see how it hooks up but here is mine I did the other day with a waterproof switch.

I did something similar with some white LED strip lighting from Amazon and some 90 degree aluminum channel. It's wired to turn on when any door opens (including the tailgate). Cheap, easy, and best of all - really bright and functional, providing even light throughout the bed.

This looks awesome! Are you willing to share how you chose to wire it up so that it activated when opening the tailgate? Did you have to add a switch and relay?
