I’ve never purchased a factory Certified vehicle before. I’m close to a deal on a 2019 Ram Certified Truck. The finance guy is telling me with a Certified vehicle that MaxCare can only be added at the time of sale, and not after the sale like a normal vehicle.

Is there any truth to this? Thanks.

You are being lied to my friend. I found this that will answer your question:

Mopar Vehicle Protection (MVP) Plans are available for personal use new, certified and pre-owned (used) vehicles. Vehicles (including CERTIFIED) within 36 months of the original in-service date and with less than 36,000 miles are eligible for new Maximum Care, Added Care Plus, Powertrain Care Plus plans. A Mopar Vehicle Protection Lift Kitcontract must accompany all new 5-8 year limited mileage MVP service contracts sold on Jeep Wranglers, Jeep Gladiators and Ram 1500s equipped with a Mopar Lift Kit up to 4-inches, otherwise the mechanical service coverage will not be honored. Vehicles eligible for mechanical service coverage that are older than 36 months past the in-service date and/or with more than 36,000 miles can be warrantied with used Mopar Vehicle Protection plans. Feel free to contact us with your VIN number if you are not sure of your in-service date.

Yeah I sent out emails earlier to Clay Robbins & Bob Cline to try and get a straight answer, but haven’t heard back yet.

Was hoping to find out if someone here already came across this with a Certified plan

you never stated the mileage on the vehicle, or when it was originally purchased (in-service date)......

As securityguy said that’s a non-issue. For reference it’s @ 25k and 20 months old.

Bob’s reply was a generic automated response directing me to the website with promo codes. So he wasn’t helpful.

I would just buy it from Zeigler on-line and call it a day once you take possession of the truck.

That’s part of the confusion

Zeigler ‘s website is $700 more expensive ($2500) than the purchasing dealer is offering it to me for ($1800)

7yr/100k w/ $100 deductible

I don't believe that. . . . . On a GENUINE FCA/MOPAR MAXCARE? Yes, it was $2540 at Zeigler, but I just DO NOT believe your selling dealer is giving you THAT ESP for $1800!!!! NO WAY! there is about a $150 markup on an ESP online, and I guarantee your dealer is not losing $550 selling you that warranty UNLESS they are desperate to make an ESP sale. If so, the dealer still has to pay COST on that plan, so if they ARE doing this, they are eating about $550, but then again, dealers can switch numbers around all day. Guaranteed, if they are selling you at that price, they've added $550 back in some portion of the sale (probably in the vehicle---with the certified label).

Got a hold of Zeigler customer service and was told that there is a different price structure for Certified vehicles that’s not listed on the website

Zeigler‘s offered me the 7/100k for $1735 on Certified

So looks like my dealer offering at $1800 is legit

Well, looks like you didn't really disclose there was a different pricing structure on certified plans. You state your dealers price was "legit", but you still make it seem like Zeigler was $700 more, when in all actuality, Zeigler was $65 cheaper. I knew something was missing in the equation.

I didn’t “disclose” a different pricing structure because I didn’t know there was one until I got a hold of customer service. There is no mention of different pricing for Certified vehicles on their website and no info here on it either

But did it strike you as odd as one of the top online dealers of Factory Mopar ESP's, which usually has the best online price (Zeigler), was $700 more than a quote you received from your local dealer? I would have questioned that right off.
At least we know if you want a certified preowned ESP, we need to research and call. Certified pre-owned vehicles have some kind extended esp included, hence the lower price to extend it into a further mileage/year frame..

Absolutely odd. It didn’t seem legit to me either, being $700 off didn’t make sense. After talking with Zeigler , now it does.

The deal may be legit but I wouldn't buy from the dealer just because he lied to me about having to buy it right then or I wouldn't be able to get it.

After more discussion with Zeigler I found the payinfull can still be applied to certified pricing. Bringing the 7/100 down to $1,365

Also, I’m told the maximum plan allowed on certified trucks is only up to 8yrs/100k which they will do for $1,530

Do it...case closed!

then you should buy with Zeigler, say "screw you" with you dealer, and case closed! :-)
