Adding additional lighting to OEM Bed Lights

Ok, I was wondering if anyone has tried adding additional led lights to the bed of the truck by tapping into the OEM bed lights so they work in conjunction to them, like light up when tail gate is open or when switch is pressed. The OEM uses a Hirschmann 2 way 1.2 SealStar FA Connector Part number (805-120-531) and I am wondering if you could use a splitter /pass through to plug into it (no wire cutting) and use that to power the additional lights like a led strip?

Hoping someone more knowledgeable can chime in.

Lots of people. I don't have links to the posts, but you can do a search and should be able to find them.

I added additional bed lights. I forget if I spliced or I tapped into some other source with a harness.. It was pretty easy to do, actually. Lots of posts about it on here.

I've written about my approach a few times. It's easy to tap into the existing hardness if you remove the driver side taillight. Much easier than trying to remove the factory light pod.

I used some 3M waterproof wire taps. That clip on the existing wiring and pierce the insulation, so it's a semi-permanent solution (though it'd be trivial to tape up the wiring if you did remove the taps). Not quite as elegant as a splitter, but so darn simple I didn't sweat it for a moment.

Ok. So my main goal always was to not cut into the original wiring and work using factory connectors ro create a pigtail which would add additional lighting in the bed of the truck that would also work with the original bed lights .. I think I figured it out. Here is what I came up with.. PS I did test it out popping the driver side bed light and it works.
