Hello!

Not sure if this has already been done this particular way but I figured I would post up how I did my AGS mod when installing my Vararam. First Vararam fit fine with plenty of clearance with the etorque option. After removing factory intake the only part I needed to remove was the radiator cover....easy... I removed the top 3 and the second from the bottom AGS blades. I reached down with a pair of tin snips cut them in half and removed. I then took a sawzaw and cut the ends of the blades off where they had attached to the center bracket on the AGS frame. I reattached all these pieces back to the center bracket which firmed the center frame back up. There are little clips that hold them in place. I did not want to remove my grille or add the stop bolt on the AGS motor, I found this to be fairly easy and reliable. Hope this helps, if has already been discussed doing it this way my appologies. 🍺 ........While I was under the hood I threw a catch can, Pulsar and Moe's 87mm TB on....

This might be a really dumb question, but why is that necessary?

The Vararam intake relies on constant airflow through the grille of the truck. When the truck does not require cooling the active shutters close which then reduces the air entering the intake. Removing the top 3 blades gives you constant flow

Both. I understand that both of those systems exist, but was the modification necessary in order to put the intake on? Or was it for another reason

Nice work. Dig the HEMI orange. Been looking hard at this system, am really starting to like it more and more. And of course, while you were under the hood, you might as well load up a Pulsar, with a catch can and TB to boot...LOL! 👍🤘🤣 Well Done!

Well, before I traded in my 2020 Laramie, I just took off that whole front plastic cover, and just left it off. I don’t know if there is a big difference in air.

I have the tools to drill that all off, but I don’t know if I want to just yet.

Not sure what the drill is for? The cover is just removable push pins and the trimming was done with a jigsaw. I like the finished look of the trimmed cover installed.....and congrats on your new truck order...🍻

I misspoke, you are correct about the drill, jigsaw. I guess my real question is just leaving that plastic cover off and leaving it off, instead of trimming it.

With the way the hoods are sealed with the gasket on the newer trucks you are probably fine...Now get rid of the oem intake so you can install some headers....lol

That was on the old truck. I put everything back to stock before I traded it in...lol

Its not necessary, and there is no verifiable proof it even helps. There is still plenty of airflow coming in the front of the truck as the shutters don't cover the whole radiator. It just gives people a warm fuzzy thinking it helps

I would ask if the thorttle body made a difference, but since you did multiple things at once, would be hard to say what made the difference.

I installed the same TB on my 17 and it was a noticeable difference....That's why I went ahead and installed one on the new truck.

Not trying to argue but the shutters do cover a very large portion of the radiator. And it certainly maintains more airflow if the shutters are open or "missing". I always try and squeeze ever little bit I can out of my vehicles so it might be a placebo effect but for the minimal effort it certainly can't hurt!

It's more for aesthetics to leave it on, and it also makes a difference with airflow through the radiator.

When cruising on the highway, which is when the shutters are closed, the engine is sucking in very little air and doesn't need a huge amount of airflow. At WOT, the shutters should be open. I don't know 100% if that is correct, or if they are purely controlled based on vehicle speed alone. But I can't imagine they would close at full throttle when you would need more cooling for the engine

And I chose to trim my shroud to keep the RAM lettering.
