I'm looking at a 2025 RAM 1500 Limited with 3.0L I6 Hurricane. The window sticker lists Active Driving Assist System (ADAS) in the standard equipment then in the optional equipment the Limited Level A Group lists Hands Free driving Active Driving Assist System. What is the difference in the standard ADAS and the optional equipment with hands free ADAS or is it all the same?

Thx

We can try to explain, but your best bet is to read the manual description yourself. Around page 187:

Short version: Basic ADAS requires hand on wheel, and it will *try* to keep the truck in the lane. It works with the Adaptive Cruise Control. If you have the Hands-Free ADAS, it means just that - now you can remove your hands from the wheel. You must keep your eyes on the road. The system is very good at enforcing this. The Basic ADAS will work on most any road with lines. The Hands-Free will only work on specific roads (divided, limited access highways/interstates). There is a map on the Mopar website.

Anyone know if the hands free driving is just a software upgrade over basic Active Driving Assist System (ADAS)? Anyone know the cost of upgrade?

Is the basic ADAS just an upgrade of the lane keep that’s standard? Talking about the one that try’s to keep you centered without ping ponging about, not the fully hands free with the camera looking at you. It would seem like all the hardware for that is there and is only a software change. Does anyone know? I had this feature in my 2016 vw and would really like it back in my 2025 Laramie.

Having had both a 25 Lonestar and currently a 25 Limited I can tell you they are worlds different. Lane keep assist is just a suggestion that you need to steer, and will nudge you. There is no keeping you centered, rather if you're lucky it will nudge hard enough to steer sort of back in the opposite direction of the drift.
The ADAS on the Limited is a true keep you centered in the lane and will steer itself. Now that being said it's using the same adaptive cruise control module and a camera below the rear view mirror to do this, however it's the same as the Full ADAS. You can set the basic ADAS and keep tapping the wheel to keep it green (it will turn amber and eventually red with audible warnings if you stay off the wheel too long). Would I trust it to drive for me, absolutely not! Does it help when on long monotonous drives to keep things moving along, definitely!

The easiest way to tell if you have full or basic ADAS on a limited or RHO is too look for the eye camera bump on the steering wheel (it extremely obvious once know what to look for). In my humble opinion of the price difference is a couple of thousand I'd go for the Full ADAS, but more than that it's a personal call at best. If it's a tungsten, those all have Full ADAS standard.

I hope that at some point either comma .AI comes out with the full hands free system for the 25 plus, or someone figured out the Atlantis High CAN network and we can start adding those systems to our trucks for a reasonable amount. Again that will require the additional external and internal cameras as well as the BCM and Modules so maybe that's wishful thinking on my part .

From what I’ve seen the way to tell the difference between the 3.

Plain Jane lane assist = standard cruise control icon on the adaptive cruise button

Basic ADAS = icon of ram steering wheel on adaptive cruise button.

Full ADAS = same button as basic ADAS plus camera hump

I just really hope I can go from scenario 1 to 2 here along with some 360 camera (independently of lane assist, I know they come in the same package but there’s nothing I can find that makes them mandatory for basic ADAS to work)

I don't use lane assist, it seems to me, it keeps the vehicle (2022) too close to the center line for my liking. Anyone else notice that?
