Greeting all,

I took delivery of my Ram 1500 Laramie Sport yesterday (9-22-18). I've been reading the forums and trying to find an answer before posting this but after about 6 pages or so of forum entries I decided to ask... Sorry if it has been asked.

My issue is when I put my foot on the gas to get on the highway. I can't go over 60 mph... The engine just revs. I checked to see if I had the parking brake on and it was not.

Anyone experienced this?

Not here, my Laramie sport is like a rocket that knows no speed limit. Honestly haven’t had it over about 85 but there is nothing between 0 & 85 except acceleration.

I am assuming you have the Hemi in your Laramie Sport. What you describe is not normal. If it does this every time, the dealer should be able to replicate and remedy. Obvious checks include making sure the truck is in 4 Auto or 2wd and the gear limit was not set. Neither of those conditions really fit your description.

This is a good reminder to other readers why a test run with the salesman is important. See the delivery checklist thread.

Good luck. I’m sure it will get worked out, but sorry to hear of any new truck issues.

I took it back out for an early morning run and I actually believe that maybe I did inadvertently hit the gear limit. I was able to reach 80 rather quickly. I never considered that it could be that easy to hit those buttons. I'll need to be more aware of it next time. I'll be going back out this afternoon and will test again. I hope it's that easy and not something else.

Thanks for the follow up. It will likely help another new owner in the coming days!

My girlfriend dailys my 15' Charger R/T (now that I've got manager demos) and she has called me on 3 separate occasions saying it's "stuck in gear". All three times were her accidentally tip/shifting the vehicle.

You've got some great advice here, Remixznflow. If you decide you'd like to have this inspected by the dealer, let me know. I am available via direct message and would be happy to help.
