8.4UC4 to 12.1 UC5 Backup Camera Guidelines

I’m wanting to upgrade my 2019 1500 8.4 non nac uc4 to the 12.1 and was told that the backup guidelines aren’t enabled. I was told I can enable them, but when the truck gets turned off, they will be disabled again by default.
Anyone have any experience with this?
