New owner and first time post :) And as usual, start with a problem :D

After experiencing colder temperatures around 0-5 degrees(F), the remote start did not function any longer due to a generated check engine light. After driving back home to much warmer temperatures, the check engine light went away.

In my stored codes reading through the OBDII port, the above message is in the title. I did not find anything when searching online or in this forum. This was a stored code.

Remote start works fine now, but it is also 50 degrees warmer on average.

Anyone seen this message before? Just checking before taking it to the dealer.

Regards,
J

Not sure but I would still take it to a dealership for records purposes just in case.

J,

I just experienced the same issues with my 2019 Ram Rebel. Everything is identical to what you reported regarding check engine light, cold temps, remote start but I got the code P0A82 “Hybrid cooling fan battery pack performance/stuck off”

I haven’t taken it to the dealer yet due to the holidays and the spontaneous resolution after returning from cold temps (30s) to Vegas (40-50s).
Did you get any resolution or repair after you posted last January?
Anyone else had this problem and a solution?
Thanks and happy New Years to all.

I have the same identical problem with my 2019 RAM Limited 5.7 etorque.
Check engine light on in cold weather.
Error code P0A82 = Hybrid Battery Pack Cooling Fan 1 Performance/Stuck.
Light goes off in warmer weather.
I drive inside warmer dealer building and by the time tech looks at it my light goes out and they say no error code.
I have since purchased an OBD2 and have brought up the code myself, next oil change hopefully the dealer will take care of it.
Did anybody get this problem taken care of yet?

LiFePo Batteries require a battery management system. This system prevents batteries from charging at temps below 32 degrees. (charging at sub freezing temps will destroy these batteries) They also will use some of the batteries energy to power a heater so the batteries can safely operate in lower temps. The BMS may be causing these codes.

IIRC there is a software update available to address this issue.

This just started on my 2023 Ram 1500 etorque hemi, paired with a U1489-00 Implausible Data Received From RF Hub-

What was interesting is the check engine light was on but standard obd2 readers showed zero codes. The light stayed on even though only stored codes existed. The dealer tech even commented how he thought that was strange.

~16 deg F outside, cleared around 25 degF

It cleared itself but not before I drove to the dealer to pull the codes for tracking purposes. The only noticeable issue was the inability to use remote start until it reset. Seems pretty unimportant but adding to this thread because I don't see any other posts related. I will update if and when it happens again or it needs servicing.

Got same thing happen to my 2021 1500 with eTorque. Got battery light on red, along with check engine on. Drove like that for a day, was all good until i needed to turn AC and headlights. It died on me withing minutes.
Got new battery installed, was able to drive home but both lights are on and battery struggle to go above 12V.

Dropped to the dealer yesterday to see what is going on... And yes, we have this -5F for few days here as well. Thing is, it started before extreme cold, and just got worse during this cold time.
