48-11 Transfer Case Shift Issues

Alright y’all. Truck has the 48-11 transfer case. Yes it sucks. It would make a grinding noise in the shift motor previously when I tried to change into 4A or any other 4wd mode from 2wd. Changed the shift motor and grinding is gone but it still won’t shift out of 2wd. No error codes or DTCs. Just a deal stating shift unsuccessful try again. Any insight?!?! Thanks!

Could that be caused by the front axle disconnect acting up? just a thought, -12 here.

When I pull the motor out and hit the button it “locks in” to the mode requested. So I don’t believe that’s causing it.

The transfer case or the front axle?

When I pull the shift motor out of the transfer case and push 4A or 4HI it’ll spin the motor and engage the front axle actuator and indicate it’s in the mode selected. Then once the motor is installed back in the transfer case it’ll spin the motor but won’t shift into the selected mode.
