I've been reading what options people have gone with on their 22s to replace the subpar Eagles that come stock and zeroed in on either 305/45 or 285/55. I'm willing to do some minor molding/trimming of the wheel wells, but don't want to go with a level or lift (really can't due to low garage entrance), and these two sizes both seem like they would work in a stock setup.
My question is, what's makes someone choose one vs the other? I get that the 305 gives some more width and can protect better against curb rash while also being better on trail. For the 285 there is more rubber "height" if looking to visually fill more of the wheel well and get a beefier look from the side.
Are these really the main considerations when making a decision or am I missing something else? If not, I think I'd lean towards the 285 for the "look" of more tire without a level or lift.
