Just bought a 2023 ram 1500 warlock DT a few months ago from carvana. Had the local ram dealer look it over before my return period ended. I asked them about the coolant temps it was running at 185-195 mostly which is much lower than my 2013 3.6 ram(215-230). They said everything looked great with the truck so I kept it. Idling in traffic about a month ago it hit 235 or 245, can't remember. Today idling in the driveway it only gets up to 174 and stays there, that was after a 20 min drive to my house. This can't be normal, do you think the thermostat is sticking open? The truck just hit 22000 miles. Weird I don't get a check engine code with the low temp, my 2013 v6 gave me a code when the thermostat failed open. Pic attached was after idling 10 minutes in the driveway.

That or temp sensor. I think the temp sensor are a possible issue with the 3.6, coming from Jeep I know I've replaced and know a few others as well.

Do you have the means to check the physical temp of engine? Do you have a non contact thermometer like one could use for cooking/grilling?

Over the years, I replaced a blue million thermostats in the 3.6 engines in Jeeps, minivans, trucks, etc.... Most common issue I c=ran across was when the inner seal deforms and interfered with the thermostat physically being able to close.

First, check and double check your coolant levels in the radiator and overflow tank.
Make sure your high speed cooling fan is operational as well.

If you replace the thermostat, get the housing as well as it can be purchased as an assembly. Easy swap. It should come with a seal preistalled.

Thanks for the replies, I do have bumper to bumper warranty until October so I'll probably just bring it to the dealer and have them take a peek since you seem to agree that the temp is off. My 2013 heater throws off so much more heat when it's around zero outside then the 2023.

Been wondering about mine, seldom been getting above 200 degrees lately, 46,000 miles. Heater seems to be working same as always, I'm leaning toward temp sensor. Let us know what you find out at dealer.
