I just put on new Fuel 20x9 +1mm with 285/60R20 Bridgestone Dueler AT Ascents about 10 days ago.
I've only gotten about a 100 miles on them so far, but here's what I've noticed....
There is no "road" noise at all..no noise from cracks, tar strips, holes, etc.
The handling and steering are as precise as the OEM 275/55R20s were..fairly tight and no drift or wandering.
The extra weight (a 54lb tire on a 30lb rim..vs OEM 38lb tire on a 34lb rim) does magnify large bumps and small washboard ruts.
My only real complaint is...these are true 16/32" tread AT tires with wide gaps and therefore...they have a very constant, consistent, uniform pitch tread noise across all speeds. It's not overly annoying, but it is there. I do have a ANC-cancelling jumper installed on my HK Sound System..maybe taking it put would help(?). I drive without music when alone, so I can hear the tread..when wife is along she runs Pandora, so can't hear it as much.
The tread noise is not bad or unexpected for the aggressiveness of the tread and I'll take that as a tradeoff for how much I love the new look.
My OEM Dueler H/Ls had almost no tread noise at all, but they did have a slight "slap" noise on road cracks and small bumps.
I have been adjusting tire psi to dial in these tires..and haven't settled it yet. My OEMs were perfect a 39psi cold. I started at 39(4), then 38(4), then 38f/36r, now 39f/35r..next 38-39f/33-34r. Carli suggests 35f/30r for metric & hybrid tires. Thuren suggest +5psi-f & -5psi-r from chalk test.
These Ascents are REALLY nice tires..and they Road Force balanced amazingly..8/8/4/2..shop guy was surprised and said right away "these will ride great"..and they do.
Your 295/70 will be a wide tire, so will make some noise..but most any tire will at that size..and these probably are better than most.
