23 gallon tank a deal breaker?

Did you order the truck or was it already on the lot? If it was on the lot, it could be that the dealer ordered it with the 26 gallon tank. But you're right, I was referring specifically to the Laramie trim. I haven't checked the other trim levels. Our Limited would have come with the 23 gallon tank, but we ordered the 33 gallon tank for that truck. We learned from my mistake since Mamma doesn't like to have to stop for gas often either LOL.

Yeah, I think you're right about things changing during a model year. Makes it hard to know exactly what you will get unless you take a look at the build sheet. I could have avoided the dreaded (by me at least) 23 gallon tank if I would have done that.

I ordered it myself, through the dealer! Sat down with him and walked through every feature I wanted and didn't want. He may have ordered the 26 gallon himself or checked a box for me (especially if it was a no cost option), but I don't remember discussing fuel tank size at all.

I do tow with my truck and get about 2 hours in on the freeway before I start getting nervous (around half full) and start looking for next fuel station. Sometimes it can be an hour or more without a fuel station directly on the route, or you end up having to buy fuel from some sketchy 2 bit station with hand pumps and rusty tanks.

I plan to purchase a toolbox for my bed, and then just put in 3 or 4 decent sized gerry cans and use them as reserve tanks. Would completely take the stress out of towing with a small tank.

That should work well for you. (y)

Many moons ago, while in a Humvee, as a Squad Leader, sitting on an autobahn in GE, we had that fuel issue. SO I had over 20 "Jerry" cans in a 3/4 ton trailer plus equipment, because we neva knew when we would be near a Kaserne ref fuel..... Good thing the GP's never knew, they would of had a cow....

Having a smaller tank doesn't change the miles you need to drive. Having a smaller gas tank just increases the amount of time you have to spend refueling your vehicle.

If you only eat and go to the bathroom once a week think of all the time you'll save!

Just do what we do in Airplanes, Add a Pilot relief tube to the truck.

In a plane you just can't pull over now, can you?
