22” Laramie Wheel - Largest Tire Height?

Black Laramie

I’ve asked before and it seemed like people were annoyed, but this isn’t asked and answered or readily available. Dealer doesn’t know. Discount Tire Direct isn’t sure.

I have factory regular suspension with
22.0–Inch X 9.0–Inch Polished Painted Wheels with 285/45R22XL BSW All–Season Tires. It looks like a sports car... not what I want.

I’m trying to put something like Nitto Ridge Grapplers on.

Just want to know how “tall” - not wide - I can go without a leveler. Don’t want rub or offset issues. Just trying to fill up the wheel well as much as possible with an aggressive look.

Anyone done this or have input?

Thanks!

Just seen this.

There’s a link in that thread to a guy running my wheel on my color/package with a 33/12.5. But he’s running a 2” leveler and says it’s tight.

I’m thinking I need to drop down to a 20. I can sell the 22” X 9.0” Polished Painted Wheels and 285/45R22XL BSW All–Season Tires

Someone has to know by now. I’ve been pulling my hair out over this.

Any thoughts on what type of setup would work for 35s on a 22 inch rim? Would a 3.5 inch lift leveler kit allow these to work?

Rich, sorry, not an answer to your question but I'm in same dilemma as you. I didn't want the 22's but couldn't pass up the deals last month and figured tires could always be replaced. So I've been looking for the same answer and while I do like the look of the 22" rims, I don't like the sidewall of the 22" tires. Nothing I've seen so far would give much additional sidewall without having to do some kind of lift. So I've been looking at 20's too, and have seen 285/60's that look really good but may rub a little or looks like 285/55 would be almost the exact same size in the 20's as the 285/45r22 that we have now. I know I'm going with the Nitto Ridge Grapplers and looking at the Black Rhino Glamis (still have to learn more about offsets though) as replacements. Not in any hurry to pull the $3k trigger on the package, so may wait until black Friday to see if there are any deals and continue to watch for some Limited 20" rims in the for sale forum.

Sounds like we’re thinking the same on all of this Slip. I bought mine thinking exactly the same thing. Truck is amazing and I bought a $68,000 sticker with a drop in liner, mud flaps and a really nice retractable cover for $54,000.

I’ll let you know what I find out. One thing I know is that with a 2” leveler, we can fit 285/55R22’s. But if you lift 2” and only add 1.2” of sidewall it seems that defeats the purpose, at least in the front. The rears would look good. I’m looking at the Ridge Grapplers.

Whatever you end up doing take pics. I’ll do the same if I go first.

Are you doing a leveler or stock suspension?

I've got air, so went with the front Daystar spacers and revel links for a ~1.5" front lift

Had the nitro RG 285/55r22s put on today. Not the best lighting in some, but I'll get better pics tomorrow. Limited 4x4, no ORP, front lifted ~1.5in with Daystar spacers and revel links.

Ive drove on em about 10 miles at Normal height so far, haven't heard anything rub.

I was concerned about noise getting a 10ply hybrid, but these things are super quiet. Ride so far is different but great, feels planted, minimal additional little bumps.

It looks great and no rub? I was going to attempt the 55’s with no kit, but yours look tight with 1.5”.

I definitely think it changes your whole look. I can’t believe they sold us these trucks with those tires? Crazy.

Thanks man.. I highly recommend the daystar/links combo. Very straightforward install if you’re technically inclined or can find a competent tech

What pressures are you running? My calc says they would have an equivalent load of the OEM at 37psi, which is just above the rated minimum of 35psi.

That is one tall tire...34.6", virtually the same as a 35x12.5 in height.

Love the look. Would like to do the same lift/level & tires. What did the tech charge to install the Daystar spacers and Revel links? I'm having issues finding someone to do the install. Also, do you think you could go stock suspension and run the Ridge Grapplers in 285/50/r22?

I’ve got a buddy that put 35/12.5 22 on a front 2 inch leveled sport and it has no rubbing. I love the look but hate 10 ply tires, as my experiences have been horrible rides.

I found a guy in my town comfortable with working on air suspension, Southern Automotive Fabrication.. he charged around 250-3

285/55R22 Nitto Ridge grapplers installed, i have the daystar spacers just waiting on the links to arrive to have them installed, as of now only have rubbing on full lock in normal mode, hopefully the leveling kit will fix that
