2021 Ram limited passenger accent strip some days stays on all day like it is suppose to. Other days it’ll come on then a second later turn off. Only times I’ve noticed it comes on but turns off is when I remote start (either the top or bottom strip will light up first then turn off) / using a turn signal during the day (the strip turns off - turn signal comes on and the strip won’t turn on again) / or using the manual knob near the steering wheel (when turned off then switched to auto it lights up then turns off). It’s very hit or miss everyday on if it stays on or not. Just this morning it stayed on during my 30 minute trip. Then later in the day I noticed it was out again.

I have no lights on the dash either. First dealer appointment they said they couldn’t replicate the issue but they called me 5 mins before close so I assume they didn’t try. Finally got a hold of them a few days later. Sent someone a photo and video showing the problem and was told I would need a new bulb. Quoted me 1400 for the part and 1823 after labor and taxes. At that point I’d rather just buy a TazerDT and turn the amber DRL on with that being a cheaper route. Seems odd how the light does come up. Just doesn’t stay on. Wasn’t sure if there was another solution to the problem.

Attached is an example photo.

Led is probably going bad. I know my led bulbs in the house typically do that before they stop working completely. The entire light will need to be replaced if you do it at the dealer. Tazer and turn signal would be your cheapest bet. You could also have the accent light board replaced or upgraded by someone like retroshop

Gotcha. Even though it is a possibility that’s crazy that would even be an option considering it’s a 3-4 year old truck. Thanks though

Unfortunately I think we are starting to see these as a more common failure.

wait those lights are suppsoed to be on all the time? I actually prefer all lights are off during the day - I turn off DRL but these stay on? I'm inside the vehicle so nevevr saw or noticed they might be on.

this is a very common and costly issue the board is going out and there is no way to fix it but buy a new headlight housing or fight tooth and nail for warranty to cover it

LED strip failed on right side at 21K miles on 2019 1500 Longhorn and replaced under warranty with no explanation as to why it failed; now left side out and dealer will not replace as I have 47K miles now and it is a 2019. As I read here and other places it seems it is common issue and Ram should do something from a customer care perspective. Dealer quoted $1900 to replace whole assembly. Was $1500 for right side; but under warranty. Ridiculous on a $70K truck.

A fellow 5th gen’er bought a aftermarket replacement and verified they work as good as o.e.
