2026 RAM 1500 Hemi 5.7 recommended oil 0w-20.

My 2026 RAM Hemi owners manual calls for 0w-20 and to my knowledge is the same engine that was in my 2019 & 2020 RAM's.

The recommended oil for the 2019 & 2020 was 5w-20.

I thought that the 5w-20 was thin but ran it in compliance with the owners manual.

Now the 2026 owners manual calls for 0w-20. Why ?

Why if the 5.7 Hemi engine is the same do they now recommend an even thinner motor oil ?

I will grudgingly comply again with the owners manual and use 0w-20 but my other two trucks ran fine on the 5w-20 and part of me wonders if I should deviate and continue with 5w-20.

Any thoughts ?

Yes, and the oil was engineered with those specific additives as part of the formula. You start dumping in random cans of crap, that make outrageous claims, because it sounds good. But you have zero idea about how what you dumped in will interact with the additives alreayin the oil. Because you don't even know what is in the oil, let alone the can of crap you lightened your wallet to buy

people, including Formula 1 race teams have been using STP for decades.....stop living in the past!!

I have run 5W30 Mobil one EP in 3 Ram Hemis and all went 250k plus without burning oil or any failures..its in my current Hemi too. And no Hemi tick. I tow heavy trailers and will never put an 0W 20 in any of my trucks..just my opinion backed by my personal experiences.
