2025 I6 - JB4 Tuner

I was able to put the JB4 through some test runs along with a road trip. Here is a link to the video I made with my first impressions along with some live 0-60 runs.

The 4000 RPM Rev limiter in park/neutral is to protect engine. Even normally aspirated engines have it. It's not good to rev the engine high without a load on it. Also, turbos won't build boost without A load on the engine. And if you notice in your own video, boost starts building well before 4000rpm

Awesome thanks for video. On that note I saw you have the K&N intake but haven't seen you discuss/review just the intake as it looks like you had prior to JB4.
Curious if you noticed any difference with the intake alone?

Burger just released the alpha code for the JB4 on the 2025 Ram 1500 Hurricane I6. Here is a link to the video I created on updating the firmware on the JB4.

I didn't really notice much of a difference. There was probably only a weeks time between me installing the K&N and the JB4. I do think the open air box allows a little more sound out of the engine bay.

Really waiting to see IGM Auto's Dyno, and Map 0 - 3 on JB4.
I'm curious with the HO as the SO and CAT 1 both are advertised as 420/469 but the truck HO is advertised -10/-10 of the CAT 3, curious why and if it was just a paper difference

Thanks for sharing, excellent video. I was probably going to get the JB4 but now I am for sure going to get it. That speed limiter at 104 is disappointing though, I hope the market comes up with a solution for that other then just a "real" tune. Granted I'm not planning on doing any top speed runs but limiting to 104 makes me feel like I'm driving something with a handicap on it, which after spending all this money on a new powerful truck is pretty lame.
Also where did you pick up the K+N intake at where it was actually in stock? Is it a actual closed box system? (Hard to tell if I was looking at stock photos on K&N's website or if it was of the actual intake)
Curious, can you hear the blow off's any better with it? I personally like all the turbo noises and want to hear more lol

I got the K&N cold air intake directly from them. They give a 30% discount to military. You have to call them on the phone and order to get the military discount. The open box design does allow a little more sound from the engine compartment. If you listen really really close you can hear the blow off.

I am impressed with Terry Burger. He has worked with me quite a bit to get things dialed in. He really wants to get the JB4 dialed in on the HO Hurricane to help everyone.

Nice, Thanks for the pics.

That's great to hear you guys are working on that, making it as good as it can be.

Hmm, I wonder how long till we will have options for a exhaust and something for the top speed?

I just installed jb4 on my bighorn SO and so far I'm pretty impressed. Same day testing conditions so ruling out any variables. 0-60 went from 4.84 to 4.61. Eighth mile 8.54@80mph to [email protected]. Only hiccup so far is trying to email logs and extremely high IATs so no quarter mile runs till I figure that out. All runs were made on map1

How are you measuring 0-60?

Burger posted their dyno run of the JB4 on a 2025 Ram 1500 with the HO Hurricane I6. Their graph shows a 131.33 HP gain and a 115.94 gain in torque on Map 4. Although Map 4 is for E85, still impressive.

Wow, so the HO has the fuel system to run full E85 right out of the box?!
This motor is going to be a monster.

Apart from that, numbers in E85 are not very relatable for pump gas users.

But their Map2 on pump gas shows increases of 80hp and 75tq - not too shabby.

Last interesting note is their SO gas tune gets you almost up to where the HO DT is stock.

That MAP4 tune has an interesting curve to it. Something's off with the numbers.

I did think it was odd that torque actually dropped on Map 4
I guess if it was truly supposed to be an E85 tune then it would be very "rich" a/f ratio wise only using E20. Which might account for that.

You mentioned that mileage really suffered with the JB4. Are we talking 1 MPG less or like 4-5 MPG less efficient mileage? I know you can't have both when adding considerable torque and HP. Lastly, I haven't seen anyone inquire about what this does to your factory warranty! I have to assume it will 100% void it. Seems like a worthy investment for us performance "whores"!!;)I'm tempted to keep my stock airbox.......for a number of reasons......as I'm not really interested in more noise, if it doesn't contribute to more HP! Great videos. Thnx.

It seems like one of those things you can easily remove if there is a warranty issue.

I didn't capture the mpg on the one long road trip with the JB4. I just know the gas hand seemed to be moving down a lot faster. I will try and get some good mpg numbers on my next long road trip.
