2023 Ram 1500 Limited - Trailer Surround Camera System 360 Installation - Working Solution

In the process of adding the trailer surround camera system.
Took a bit of research to understand the different cameras and so on so this is my journey, maybe it will help somebody in the future.

I did not have a 12 pin connector on my bumper before starting.
I only had the 4/7 pin connectors on the bumper.

Parts list:
68527709AC - Trailer 360 Camera System
68522624AA - 7/12 pin connector that goes on the bumper
68525632AA - 12 pin harness (part of 5th wheel prep)
68509331AB - Trailer camera gateway module that goes behind the dash

Worked with the dealership to figure out some of this but they also referrenced the forum.
They enabled sales codes AHT and AHX which is what is associated with my truck instead of XN1 and this now shows the "Trailer" option under "Camera".
Before turning on the sales code the Trailer section was not there.
Under AUX there was AUX1 and AUX2 before turning on the sales codes. Now there is only AUX2 available.


I looked behind the dash for the wiring where the trailer camera gateway is going to be installed and the plugs were there and easily accessible and covered with tape.
Pending arrival of the gatway to install.


Underneath the truck I had to look around and see if there were any extra wires or harnesses.
Found a 12 pin connector that resembles the type of connection needed for the cameras. It was on the driver side above the exhaust.
It has a protective cap on it.



In theory, I should be able to take the harness purchased above and plug this in and the camera system should work.
Will update next week.

After a **** ton of hours trying to figure this out and researching/tranlsating this stuff........
I have got it to work.
Just need to install on the trailer.

Posting the solution so if anyone needs the pin outs they can duplicate it.
You will need to buy 2 of part #68525632AA and splice them togethere because you need two female ends to connect the bumper connection and the chassis harness connection.
Below is the pinout I used.



This is what the crossover cable look like. This is how it looked for testing. Need to clean it up and finalize the connections.

It is def not plug and play.
I had to figure out which wires need to go where since the pinouts are different on the trailer and truck from what I was expecting.
This was initially the output I was receiving but just needed to figure out the video portion for the crossover cable (pins 7, 11, 12 on the trailer side).
The power, ground, and BUS connections I guessed on with trial and error.


This is the output after making sure that all the connections were done using the pinout above.
Cameras are laying on the ground inside the box.

I got my truck on 2022 and it came with that box containing the 360 trailer camera kit, I’m thinking about installing it in my Rv, I see that you have a lot going on makes me wonder if I have to do all that as well I believe the connection you didn’t have on bottom of the bumper I do have it just to make sure can you send a pic of how everything looks hooked up on the truck ? I will upload picks about my set up as well I’m thinking the only thing I might need is the gateway module, do you know if they install those from factory or do I have to get one for sure

Try plugging in the camera system.

If you get a blue screen then that means no gateway I think.

If you see aux 1 and aux 2 that means you don’t have the sales code enabled for the trailer camera system.

The hardest part for me was that I had no 12 pin connector on the bumper so trying to figure that out was painful.

Done with the mocking up.
Need some grommets for the roof and then cleaning up the wiring.

Front camera won’t go up until I find a solution for the rounded roof but 3 cameras will def help out in the interim.

Plugged everything into to truck and they showed on the screen I guess I do have a gateway lucky me, all I need now is install on my Rv

What si the quality in the trailer surround?

Mine is a bit fuzzy but I think it’s related to the splicing I had to do.

There is shielding and twists in the pairs of wire.

What type of truck do you have? 1500?
Can you take a pic and send part number of the wire harness between the connector underneath the truck and to the bumper underneath.

How is that setup on yours.

Quality is good as good as the 360 on the actual truck, just looks weird on that picture

That would be very helpful so I can purchase that and avoid the splicing I did.

Every time I went to dealership they would not find anything and most info I found was for 2500/3500s
