2022 Model Year Information?

Anyone hear about what is coming for 2022 model year? Will it be a mid-cycle refresh?

There is UConnect 5 that FCA said will be on all their vehicles by MY 2022. Other than that, anyone hear anything? Will LED be standard (or part of, say, BH Level 2 group)? Will more safety features be standard on BH or Laramie, like adaptive cruise or blind spot monitoring? New colors?

I've done an online search and have come up with pretty much nothing except for UConnect 5.

I'd say it's too early to know, and everything at this point is speculation. I wouldn't even count on uconnect 5 to be included until I see something more definitive specifically about the 1500's from FCA. I remember reading a lot of misinformation about apple car-play and android auto a few years ago. Most of that information came from forums. So, I'm not believing anything I hear or read unless it's accompanied by a link to an FCA source LOL.

Its likely but not confirmed. The new F150 is coming out soon and the GM twins are getting a major interior upgrade by 2022, so it's likely to have a mid-cycle refresh to stay relevant, which usually means an front fascia change and new tail lights, maybe some revised wheels, also small details & options that weren't available before.

They may take it a step further with some powertrain changes, especially with Ford pulling out the big guns with hybrid and full electric versions.

The current F150 was completely redesigned in 2015, with all aluminum body, new frame and new engines. Honestly no truck went through a more thorough redesign than the current F150. The all-new 2021 F150 will have an all new body (even though it doesn't look it), every single panel is new. New interior, and powertrain changes that include a hybrid and will have an all-electric model.

The Charger & Challenger need a redesign, the Challenger is technically on the same design since 2008, with only a facelift in 2015. The Charger got a redesign in 2011 and a refresh in 2015. Both are riding on the same Mercedes platform that was already old in 2006 when the 6th gen Charger came out.

GM is making the change due to an "emergency" for all the negative press about it's interior, but it's still a change that can effect RAM sales. Plenty of folks got RAMs because of the Silverado's interior, including myself. RAM will also need to step up for a mid-cycle, when that will be is either 2022 or 2023. But it has to happen.

I get that, Fords problem is that they essentially look the same for the last 10 years. FCA/Ram needs a serious engine update, that's what they really need to focus on. GM, the truck is ugly and the interior looks from the 90's. I'd bet Ram/FCA does nothing until 23-24

Gotcha, that makes sense. But you know truck guys, they want things to stay familiar in some ways, to retain that brand look. I agree so much on the powertrain, I would love to see some serious updates on engines. FCA is buying so many carbon credits from Tesla, they are going to need to do something soon on modernized powertrains.

I'm about there with you on the refresh, I expect something maybe a year earlier than you, but similar.

Realistically FCA (Stellantis) isn't going to steal back a lot of sales with an update/refresh against the '21 F-150 and '22 GM 1500 launches.

Better to release a few new things on the options list over the next couple of years, develop a mid-generation refresh, and release it for 2023.

I think even with the new interiors and changes to powertrain, the Ram is still very relevant. Fuel Economy for the v8 is very similar to the 3.5L EcoBoost (I am considering upgrading from my 2018 Ford F150 with the 3.5L EcoBoost for equivalent mpg but better on the highway as the v6 struggles bigtime in slight wind, etc). Even with an interior refresh I don't think GM and Ford will go beyond the Ram. I would have seriously considered Ford if it had a plug in hybrid truck (gas engrine + at least 50km electric range) and more utility (RamBox + Multi Tailgate)

There is not much can be done to make the HEMI 5.7 any better? Maybe adding a turbo version, but then I have no confidence in the reliability.
