Have a 2022 ram 1500 hemi etourque. 1100 miles today the battery light came on when stopped and check engine light came on. Drove a bit parked turned truck off and started back battery light went off check engine stayed on. It did this twice today so far. Any clues to what it could be?

Do you always turn the Auto Start/Stop off while driving? I believe I read somewhere the system does a better job charging the batteries with it on. I also suggest checking all connections and grounds under the hood, and make sure all fuses are fully seated. Short of that, sounds like a dealer trip is in your future. Bummer.

No, I leave auto start stop on. It doesn't always kick on though at stops.

Mine doesn't begin kicking on/off until after the cabin cools down to whatever I set the a/c to. If you watch your battery gauge, what is it reading?

The battery guage bottomed out yesterday, truck barely started. Guess the charging system is out of commission. It read far on the low side while driving it.

Ouch. Let us know what the dealer tells you

So trucks still in the shop, Battery Charging Control Module is the issue. They have been waiting for a week for Ram to approve the part to be ordered. They say it's a restricted part.

Restricted from who, customers? Hopefully they expedite it for you today

I work in the aerospace industry. It's been my experience that when a part is restricted these days, it's because it's heavily impacted by supply chain issues. Just about every manufacturing company out there prioritizes new sales over spare parts. Ram needs to release a new part for use in warranty. This may delay a new truck delivery.

My 2 cents

I recently had my battery charging control module replaced at 6 months, 5100 miles. Similar indications where the battery warning light came on, followed by the check engine light. It took 9-10 days to receive the restricted part and get the repair done. So far so good.

Did you guys have the check engine light go on and off all the time? I am having the same issue with my 2022 and every time I take it to the dealership, the light is off and the codes are stored so they can't do anything.

My 2022 RAM Rebel 1500 has the same issue. It has been in the shop for more than a month and I don't have a loaner. They are waiting on the battery control module to ship. In the interim, I'm driving my old 2000 Chevy Silverado with 278k miles on it.
I know the bowtie and blue oval brands have their problems but I'm seriously looking at other brand options. Having to stop in every week at the RAM dealer for an update is starting to get on my last nerve. Not to mention, other dealers will not offer much of a trade for a sick billy goat they have to go pick up on a rollback.

Bought a new 2024 RAM 1500 Longhorn Limited with 5.7 Hemi eTorque. It was a demo so had 4,000 miles on it. Had it 10 days, drove it for 7 of them for 500 miles when it started shedding voltage along with the check engine light going on. This happened during an errand that was two and a half miles away. Texted the salesperson and he said he would alert service to expect me at 8:00 AM the following morning. The battery voltage was showing in the 11.2-11.4 range.

The next morning, I left for the dealer which is 9.6 miles away and never made it. It continued to shed voltage util around 10 volts the vehicle shutdown about 50 feet from a major intersection. It got towed to the dealer who took two days to get it in the shop which they concluded was a control module. They told me it would take 3 weeks to get the part. Doesn’t’ take 3 weeks to ship anything so they were hoping a part would be available then. I told them fine, give me my money back (paid cash) or another vehicle. The NJ lemon laws give you 20 days and you’re not going to make it. I put a claim in with Stellantis as well. About 10 days later they got a part (probably from the assembly line) and got me going again.

During that period, I went to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) and searched or complaints and recalls on the topic. I saw some similar complaints but no recalls.

The truck currently runs and I put another 1,500 miles on it. I’m an old school alternator guy, so I don’t want my ignorance of the eTorque and its 48 volt lithium battery technology to make false conclusions. But, the truck still sheds voltage during any trip. Starts out at 13.8-13.9 and will drop to 12.6 all of a sudden. Unlike the time it failed, it bottoms at around 12.4. It will pop up to the 13.8 the next morning which leaves me to conclude it is being charged overnight by the lithium battery.

Nothing has been explained or acknowledged by Stellantis. I have seen mechanics state that the BCM or software glitches can be to blame. Keeping my fingers crossed but believe there is more to this story.

I had a 2018 2500 Cummins. On its 2nd ABS system replacement and it was 8 months getting in. I was trading it for a 2023 1500 etorque when service came to me - you're part is in. I am REALLY sad to hear this aboit your battery charger and others too. Just means mine is waiting to pounce!! 6,800 miles - hoping I escape this problem.

I just experienced this last week - 2023 RAM 1500 with only 5,237 miles on it. Battery light came on, then check engine light. Running voltage ranged from 11.6v to 11.9v The closest dealership was 1.3 miles from home, so I was able to make it without the truck dying on me. This is incredibly frustrating that a truck ( cost ranging from 48k to 82k) has this ongoing issue so early on; more so, that the part is on back order/ restricted. Of course, no loaner at the dealership - luckily I have a take home vehicle from work. Which by the way, the part number is “Power Pack Unit Battery Kit - 68372205AP.”

It is my first RAM truck, and it is currently leaving me with a very bad taste in my mouth. I wanted to buy American; sadly, should have kept my 2017 Toyota Tundra - zero issues from brand new to 165k miles on it (aside from routine maintenance.)
