I've got a 2021 Laramie with 39K miles. I'm getting close to the end of the five year drivetrain warranty.

I'm not sure how many of you are driving 2026's but I'm contemplating ordering a 2026 Laramie. I'm just curious what's actually changed or improved?

I have an AAWirless adapter, so though it's not native to the truck, I have perfectly functional and reliable wireless Android Auto with UConnect 4.

So beyond the next gen UConnect and starting from zero with a new warranty, what's actually changed or improved from 2021 to 2026?

Depending on what you get, the Hurricane engine, and totally different uconnect/canbus architecture. Full digital gauge cluster.

I'd personally save the coin, buy extended Maxcare warranty and stay away from Etorque

I'm sure these warranties have been discussed on this forum ad nauseum but I know nothing about them.

Is there a master thread somewhere that discusses how much one should pay for these warranties and whom to buy from?

The local dealer where I have the truck serviced (I didn't buy the truck from them) recently sent one of those "Our records indicate the factory warranty on your 2021 Ram 1500 Crew Cab has expired or is about to expire" emails, trying to get me to call them about extended coverage.

I would only buy Mopar Maxcare, others might suggest other brands.

You can go here for a quote many buy from because they're cheaper then going thru dealership. You might be able to use it with local dealer to get price matched or better.

Thanks. I really know absolutely nothing about extended warranties. I've never bought one on any car I've ever owned.

Plugging some quick numbers into that Zeigler site came up with $3230 for the Extended Care Premium with a $200 deductible for 3 YEARS/36,000 MILES.

I have zero clue how competitive that is. It says the truck has to have an inspection performed at a dealer.

You could always just pocket the cash for a warranty and have that in case anything was to go wrong. Warranties are a gamble. I have 100K miles on my 19 and only thing was manifold. Some never have any issues, while others seem to buy the lemon. I say that warranty, because it's factory warranty and less hassles to get things covered/fixed. Outside warranties like to fight people or make dealers goes thru hoops to get paid.

What can you get for your current truck? My old 2.7 f150 was 9,000 less than it was 5 years ago when new. Made sense for me to go new because it did not meet my needs and I didn't trust it out of warranty. I spent that 3 grand towards a new truck instead.

I just got my 26 with hurricane, level 2 big horn, night package for 52. Zero percent interest financing. Could've had it for 49 without the zero percent but it made more sense for me to pay more but get zero percent interest.

Theyre more spendy now but honestly if I had a 21 with the hemi and no etorque I would've kept it. If you can try to wait another year for more bugs to be worked out. People are still having little electrical issues but it's a lot better than the early 2025 trucks.

It is a Hemi, non-eTorque truck. It's at the dealer now for a ticking sound that I'm hoping is just an exhaust leak. But with only three months of factory powertrain warranty remaining, I wanted to get on record, in case this progresses further. I've read that cam and/or lifter issues are not uncommon on this engine.

I haven't priced a new truck but an equivalent Laramie replacement with the options I chose on this truck would likely sticker in the high $70's (a guess). So assuming my 2021 is worth $30K (again, a guess), that's $40K to replace it with basically the same truck.

Save the money and enjoy no payment, if yours is paid off.

Doesn't really matter if you take it in now. If they say it's not the lifter or cam, and then you take it back after warranty is expired, it's not covered just because you complained of a sound prior to warranty being expired.

Tick is almost certainly manifolds. Does it go away once the truck is warm?

I’d keep your current truck. The 2026’s have no upgrades worth 40k.

The dealer just called and said the driver's exhaust manifold is in fact cracked. It will be replaced under the powertrain warranty. Curiously, he said it's covered because it's a 4X4. He said had it been 2WD, it wouldn't be covered. Makes no sense to me but I'm just the messenger.

I priced an equivalent Laramie on the Ram site eraler. It came out to $77K.

I agree. I see no reason to spend tens of thousands of dollars to effectively have the same truck at the end of the day.

I'm curious as well and I think a good choice!!

If consider the money saved by not buying a new one as “the warranty” mechanism. You can likely afford a lot of repairs for the amount you’d have to come out of pocket on a new one.

If it’s been reliable and enjoyable otherwise, that’s where I’d place my chips.

I have a 2020 model Rebel and I don’t see anything on the new ones I can’t live without. The H.O. motor in the premium trucks are intriguing, but a few extra ponies aren’t worth it for me.
