I'll be towing a camper that is about 5000 lbs and suspect the wind drag will keep me in the 10-11 MPG range. What you are towing there compared to a camper with that wind sail is a world of difference. That wind resistance is a MPG killer.
For sure. Before the car hauler trailer I used an Aluma A8816 which put the atvs much higher. Even though that was significantly lighter and I only put 2 Atvs on it I would get 18-19ish and once with a tailwind I got 24 but that only weighed ~2200#s. There was also a case I got 14 with the aluma in bad weather. Weather and conditions were good on this trip, minimal winds. Conditions are critical but it is cool to see what it manages to do in ideal conditions.

8.2L/100km average after a +/-1400km round trip through the Rockies and Kootenay mountains from Calgary, AB to Castlegar, BC to Salmo, back to Castlegar and then home to Calgary. This is with my stock Rebel, family of four and the back seat and bed half full of stuff. Works out to 28.8mpg through the mountains at about 110kph or 70mph. Hand calc came out to 8.1L/100km, so slightly better as the average included a bunch of city driving. Had I zeroed the trip meter it would probably have been less.

Running $1.739 right now but was as high as $1.839 last week. I think the key was using cruise as much as possible. Found in the sections where I wasn’t using cruise the mileage was slightly worse.

So far so good. My first day back to work.

31.2 on the way from New Orleans to Pensacola, on Adaptive cruise control, @ 71mph
29.5 from Pensacola to Tampa on Adaptive cruise control, @ ~75-85mph
20.1 Towing a 16x7 enclosed trailer on the freeway, @ ~65mph
28.2 Mixed Freeway/City in rush hour (note that I had a light foot)

Something I noticed. As much as I like the adaptive cruise control, it's extremely aggressive when I pass someone or traffic speeds back up. The second someone is no longer in front of me, It'll downshift 1 or 2 gears to get back up to speed, and I'll just watch my MPGs plunge. I've found that if I do get behind someone, it's best to cancel my ACC and manually get back up to speed.

Does anyone have any accurate info on the mpg for the eco Diesel engine ? Ordering a new big horn and trying to see what the fuel efficiency really is

I’m averaging 18mpg…
35s,3.5in lift, and throttle controller installed that i run in sport mode.
when itt was stock i got 26mpg

21.2 lifetime average with just under 3k miles. Maybe 500 miles towing, and most of that has been very easy due to owners manual suggestion. Could be worse I suppose, but I see no scenario where I will see the window sticker 29 highway.

I'm at a little over 1500mi, now.

At the moment, I'm averaging 25-26, as the sticker says. I'll report at the end of my tank, which could be a few more weeks.
I'm still only on my 2nd full tank and my first full tank was mostly highway, if that's any indication how far I can go on one tank. I haven't filled up since Memorial Day and I drive >42mi/day.

I have a very heavy foot, so I'm the worst to judge on how I'm driving it. I FEEL like I need to baby it to stay at 26, but I also notice I'm still driving way faster than the average driver. I'm still compelled to pass slow turds and floor it through yellow lights.

3 interesting things:
1. The Diesel definitely needs to be driving for 5-10 minutes before reaching good efficiency. I'm pretty much stuck under 20mpg during the first 5 min.
2. The efficiency breaks my brain. On a flat road, I can maintain about 50mph at 45-50mpg, without losing speed. However, any small hill will drop that to 25-30, then momentarily to 60-70.
3. The aerodynamics are amazing, but you can't get around weight. My commute is 8mi of freeway, but it's all overpass, so up-down-up-down is really keeping me under 30-avg.

You might see the 29 MPG as the truck breaks in depending on your driving habits. Mine has about 6500 miles on it and seems to have gotten better with milage as some miles added on. Your 3.92 gears will shave about 2 MPG off no matter what you do.

I hit 31.8 MPG on my last trip from NJ to Upstate NY. 290 miles in 4.3 hours is an average speed of about 63 MPH. No stops on this run and not much sitting in traffic. Around town I sit at about 25-26 MPG.

I did manage 28 today on a 80 mile trip on 2 lane roads, only 3 or 4 stops; drafted a semi for 10 miles. Kept it between 55-65, real slow acceleration from the stops, never passed anyone. Maybe on the way home I'll fold my mirrors in and see if I can get to 29 :)

Mirror folding: absolutely! In fact, I use that all the time to increase my mileage. The other benefit, if I need to slow, I don't want to hit the brakes (wasted energy into heat and all that), I'll toss the mirrors OUT and that keeps me in position with other traffic.

I get around 23-24 as my daily driver in mixed driving. I just left on vacation and drove 1000 miles and got about 28 average. I was up to 31 average until we got to some mountain driving and it brought the average down to 28.

So just towed a car yesterday 170 miles through the rolling hills of PA and at 55 MPH average speed I got 23.8 MPG. The total weight was just under 7000 lbs. I am pretty amazed at this. Hardly knew the thing was back there.
Now when I tried to go 65 MPH I knew it was back there and the truck was in the lower gears but at 55 MPH I could pull this all day long.

OK, so my first normal tank is finished, so I'll do a bit of a round-up of my mileage so far:

0mi: Truck came with about 1/2 tank when delivered to New Orleans.
500mi: Top off in Crestview for Trip Home.
1150mi: First major fill-up for daily driving.
1825mi: Second major fill-up for daily driving.

My 1150mi fill-up was around Memorial Day, and I just filled up this morning, so a tank REALLY lasts me.
Around 550-575mi into the tank, I was feeling pretty good at 27.5mpg average:

....then my wife borrowed the truck on Sunday. She returned it in the 24-25mpg range, so I managed to bump it back to about 26 before this morning's fill up.

According to the dash:
685mi driven
61mi remaining (plus about 50mi reserve)
25.5 hours run time
26.0 MPG

According to today's receipt:
I bought 28.906gal @ $5.639/gal....minus 20c/gal from Upside.
$163.00, minus rebate.
685mi driven
23.7 MPG

I would like to do one more receipt before I'm sure I'm that much off from the lie-o-meter, but it's going to be another 3-4 weeks before that happens.
I usually pump to stop, then 2 more stops, then I round up to the next dollar. I'll try to stick with that method.

For the record, I can definitely get some crazy mileage if I really try.
I'm the type of person who likes to take off from every light, but if I accelerate like a regular person, I see a difference.
Cruise Control is too aggressive on hills and passing. If I let gravity do most of the work, I can save a bunch.
In town, I will anticipate lights and coast, long ahead of a red light.

Some of you are getting amazing mileage. Towing my single axle camper I found 60mph @ 16.X MPG to be significantly better than 70mph @12.X.. So I might slow down. Was really hoping I wouldn't take that much of a hit towing, but still quite a bit better than my f150 which was less than 10 with same camper. V nose snowmobile trailer likely will do better despite being bigger and longer.
