After puzzling over how big a tire my truck could fit, I trusted Discount Tire’s online help chat and ordered 295/55/R20 Wildpeaks. I had a tiny bit of rubbing solved by one zip tie and snapping the driver’s side plastic behind a bolt (which has held for a few weeks now). I am happy with the way they look. Wheel wells reasonably filled and ever so slightly wider. Might have gained almost 1/2” of ground clearance.
Just wanted to share that this tire size works on the stock 20” wheels.
For the passenger zip tie I drilled 2 holes about an inch apart so the zip tie made a figure 8 and pushed the plastic wheel well flap inboard just enough. On the driver’s side the same holes have bolts in them and the flap easily clicked into place. If it doesn’t continue to hold, I’ll find a spot to zip tie it back as well. But so far so good.
My speedometer is about 1.8 mph low now according to Discount’s calculator. Do you think there is any sort of mechanical risk to leaving as is or should I have a dealer recalibrate the speedo?
