Runs perfectly.
32,xxx miles
No exhaust issues (GDE tuned)
Currently 21, all local short trips in winter
I would say don't bother, because you can revert from tuned to stock with just your phone now. They use the PowerGate4 app to install the tune and it stays on your phone. You also get the security bypass cable, which you'll need, but otherwise no need for a separate PCM to physically swap. Just tap a few buttons on your phone, wait a few minutes, and you're back to stock if you should need to visit a dealer for service/warranty/recalls.55k miles
Love my truck. Some small issues over the years but all recalls or warranty.
No exhaust issues - bone stock
City I average 19-21 depending on season.
Highway I can see 26-30 depending on the season and my right foot.
Looking at a GDE tune if I can find an ECU to clone
I didn’t even know that. Great to know!!!I would say don't bother, because you can revert from tuned to stock with just your phone now. If powertrain warranty is a concern for you, Ram will still be able to tell that the ECU has been tuned even if you return it back to stock.I didn’t even know that. Great to know!!!
I can’t say that I’ve definitely seen that much increase. Based on my driving habits I’ve seen less than advertised increase, maybe just 3-5% but still noticeable at the pump. For those of you that did the GDE tune, did you see the 7-10% increase in mpg advertised?
It'll drop a code, usually P0671- P0676 to indicate which cylinder is faulting. As well when you first startup in the cold the little "Coil/Glow Plug" light will flash for the first 10 seconds of running. you can hear the truck misfiring just a hair too for the first 20 or so seconds of running as the other cylinders are warmer and burning their fuel better. I don't always use my block heater, where I live doesn't stay cold enough to warrant plugging it in every night. I'd say I probably only plug it in 50% of the time in the winter.Does a code come up for a dead glow plug? How did you know? Truck didnt get warm when plugged in
With the onset of winter and winterized fuel, I haven't noticed an improvement in fuel economy. I'll be able to provide more useful comparison data once we're back to normal D2 and ambient temps. For those of you that did the GDE tune, did you see the 7-10% increase in mpg advertised? Overall happy with the tune? Purchased my tune for my '22 in December when he was having a sale, but I haven't got a chance to send it off to be programmed yet. Would like to see some increase in fuel efficiency when I do and really hoping the trans tune helps with passing at higher speeds (50+).
I picked up a 22 Limited back in October with 13k on it and have put a little over 7k on it since then and have no complaints, other than missing some pickup in those higher gears and speeds. Come from a 19 Limited with the hemi and definitely love the fuel economy compared to that one, I was lucky to sniff 16mpg on a long trip.
