2019 Rebel Bilstien 5100 Rear Suitability

So I need to replace the rear shocks on my 2019 Ram 1500 4x4 Rebel Sport and thought while I’m at it I might as well do all four. I went onto the Bilstein website, put all my vehicle details in and it prompted B8 5100’s all round. The shocks have arrived but I am yet to install them.

I have subsequently stumbled across a few threads that say you can’t use the 5100’s on the rear and one particular thread said that it resulted in the rear actually ending up lower than the front.

Anyone got any info on this?
Can you actually install 5100’s on the rear?
Do you need to add spring spacers if you do?

Yes, and it will not lower the truck. the springs hold up the truck. the Bilsteins are good for a 0-2" lift and I assume the Rebel is using the ORP springs which are 1" taller than average.

I’ve also read that the OEM front springs come with integrated perches and that you shouldn’t use the Bilstein supplied perch but that doesn’t sound right. Know anything about this?

New 5100s yes use the perches that come with them. I pulled one off my factory shock and it looks to be the same thing but I would defiantly use what comes with the shock. Check the chart that comes with it, if you want to increase the height up front you should be limited to the bottom 5 levels. If you want to remain stock be sure to use the right level for your springs. Your springs on level 5 would be about the same height as mine on level 7, which provided me with around a 3" lift up front. I paired it with larger rear springs that added 2" of height

Thanks for that! So I’m aiming for just off level so it’s doesn’t squat too bad when I tow. You reckon position #4 is a good shout?

I also don’t want to replace the UCA’s if I don’t have to and believe that so long as I stay under 2” of lift, the factory UCA’s should be fine. The only thing that trips me up is that I don’t know if the ORP and the circlip positioned at #4 will push me over that 2” limit?
