Hello, I'm new to the forum but I've had my new 2019 ram 1500 for about 3 months now and I've put around 1k miles into it.
Today while driving to the store, as I pulled away from a stop light my truck jerked rather aggressively as if it had jumped into gear. I originally just thought it was the start stop system as it still allowed me to drive about the 1 mile I had left until I arrived at my destination. but after arriving at my destination I noticed that the truck was leaking alot of some type of oil. After turning the truck off and back on, the dash was displaying the transmission was in 6th gear and it would not move forward in drive. It would however still go in reverse. I called a family mechanic and he said that one of the transmission lines had disconnected but since the truck is brand new I called the dealer to service it so they came and towed it to the shop. Today is Saturday and they wont be back to work until Monday so I cant find out what's actually wrong or why a hose would give out like that!!!!! Has anyone on here heard or had this happended to them. Just wondering what the issues could be. Also very disappointed in RAM rn.

I feel your pain.

I was driving home today after work on the freeway when I felt the transmission slip. The truck shifted to neutral and I had to coast off the freeway in rush hour traffic. I could smell transmission fluid and had no power to the wheels.

I had the vehicle towed to the nearest dealership.

The truck has 379 mile on it (I picked it up exactly one week ago.)

To be continued....

24 hr. Update:

Still in the diagnostics phase. The service department told me is transmission lost all fluid. They also said they are going to contact Chrysler HQ to notify them of the failure. According to the dealership this is the first time they have seen this failure in the 2019 Ram 1500.

To be continued....

Hi w.e.coyote,
We are terribly sorry to hear about this experience with your new Ram. Has a case been opened on the customer care side? If not, please send our team a private message and we would be happy to get that process started for you!

48 hour update:

The dealership called this afternoon and my truck is repaired. It seems as if the transmission coolant line wasn’t properly fastened during assembly causing the leak.

It seems I had the same issue as Superdre92.

I drove the truck home, and the transmission seems to be working fine.

Drove home 17 May 2019 in new Ram Laramie, very pleased with my new truck. On 13 June 19 and with only 940 miles on the truck, not quite a month later I am concerned I've got a problem. The vehicle would not shift out of first gear. I was stopped at a stop sign and making a right turn onto a 6 lane highway. Upon starting up and turning the transmission remained in first gear, motor revving 3000-3,500 RPM, until I realized it was not shifting out of first gear. I turned on my hazards lights and I lifted my foot off the accelerator to let the truck slow down, it was still in first gear, I came to a complete stop on the roadway since there was no place to turn off. I tried to slowly accelerate but it still would not shift out of first gear. I brought the truck to a full stop, then slowly accelerated again, still did not shift out of first gear. I again came to a full stop, this time I turned off the engine and it shut down. I started the truck up and placed it into the Drive mode and accelerated the transmission then shifted as if nothing was wrong.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Perhaps on accident you hit gear limit and limited it to a 1st gear.

I have a 2019 Rebel. This has happened to me twice.( does not shift out of 1st gear). Once at about 1000 miles and yesterday at 6000 miles. Yesterday I put the gear selector in "N" and back to "D" and it shifted properly. The dealer has no info on this type issue. This is a serious issue not to mention the people behind me getting rather annoyed following a vehicle going 10mph.
