Has anyone replaced the fuel tank on their 5th gen ram? I'm having issues with filling up gas (stops every 20 seconds). I have a 2019 V6 and am looking to replace the fuel tank and lines as the dealer told me there is a crack in the fuel filler hose and a valve that is broken in the fuel tank. They want over $1000 in labor for the job.

I'm trying to determine the parts I need for the replacement but am having a tough time deciphering the parts on MOPAR as they don't differentiate the fuel tanks by capacity. I'm just looking for a clean replacement.

Thanks.

There are guys that upgrade to the 33 Gal tank. Search the forums for that.

I have a 2019 BigHorn V6 and the same problem! After contacting a Dealer, RAM and a mechanic, it was determined that a full replacement of the tank, filler line, evaporate canister and seleniod were to be replaced. Cost me $900. Both the dealer and RAM say it is not a warranty item since I have 80k on the truck. There are many people with the same problem, some got it fixed under warranty (new truck or low miles) but everyone says to replace with what you have and not change size. RAM is not helping me out. Good luck

This just started happening to our 2020 1500. 3rd fill up now, takes like 10 minutes. Initially started when it was really cold so hoping it's related to that and once it warms up, the problem will go away, haha!

Have you tried putting the nozzle in first while you do the card transaction for paying at the pump? That trick has helped me.

I'm getting my 23 gallon tank replaced end of this week for the same issue. Tried all the angles, etc, just wouldn't take fuel for more than 10-15 seconds at a time. Makes for a very long fillup.

Parts for my 2019 are (w/ dealer quoted prices):
68584756AA (23 gal tank) - $471
68580832AA (Fuel vapor vent) - $126
55366298AA (O ring/fuel pump & level) - $74

Add to that 3hrs labor @ near $200/hr, and my total should be $1164.

You should have put in the 33g tank since you already replacing the 23. I just purchased all my parts for the 33g , going to install.soon .

This! It’s roughly what it cost me.

I asked - dealership specifically said they would not do that. While i would have liked 33, i don't drive much (2019 bought in 2018, i'm at like 30,400 miles), so a 23 is fine for me.

Yeah warranty they won't do more, plus with the 23 you would need the bigger fuel pump that the 26/33 has from what I've read.
