Figured I would share my experience here. My eTorque MGU started making a high-pitched sound last August at 67k miles. I brought it into the dealership and they determined the bearings were failing on the eTorque so they replaced it under the 80k federal emissions warranty. I ended up being without my truck for about 2 weeks.
A year later, at 78k miles, I'm at a busy intersection, I release the brake pedal and the truck doesn't restart from the auto stop/start. Smoke starts coming out of the hood.
I take it to my local guy who determines that the smoke came from the starter. Replaces the starter and subsequently discovers the eTorque MGU (the one replaced a year earlier) has apparently failed and that's what burned out the starter. So I tow it to a dealership who confirms the diagnosis. Now of course the MGU is backordered with no ETA, thousands of trucks are waiting for parts. It could be weeks or even months.
I did message @RamCares this morning, haven't heard back yet. Hoping I can get Stellantis to expedite my part order and help me out with the cost of a rental car, the dead starter, and the towing.
Has anyone else had multiple eTorque units fail on them?
