Hello everyone first time on this site and first ever owned Ram 1500. Only has 400 miles and already 3 times it would no move when shifted into drive from park position, was not the ebrake. Happens when hot or cold. I just moved it and I actually heard something clicking/engaging from underneath before it went into drive and it wasn’t smooth as most times it is, door was closed. Hoping someone can chime in, I heard maybe a flash will fix but not sure. Thanks and happy holidays

Ironically, mine has done this 3 times and I just turned 400 miles. I engage drive and then have to give it gas before it slams into gear. This is the 2nd consecutive ‘19 Ram I’ve purchased and had this issue. The first they had to replace the transmission.

Hm.. so weird. It drives like a dream otherwise but it’s to the point that every time I go into drive now I’m wondering if it will happen. Someone at church has a 2018 and he said it would happen to him and now he just turns the shifter knob slowly and it hasn’t happened since. I’ll try a few times and report back.

Hey there thanks for chiming in. Did you have them replace your first truck or is this your second truck? Also did they fix the problem when transmission was replaced? I really don’t want to get into all of that

This is my second truck, and due to numerous other issues including the transmission problem, my dealer gave me a great deal on my second new one as a good faith deal. Tragically, starting yesterday, I am having the same transmission issues that I had with my first one. I did not wait for the first truck to have the transmission to be replaced before I traded, so I can't comment on whether it fixed it or not. This will 100% be my last FCA purchase and am very disappointed with the build quality and quality control issues at the plant.

To anyone interested, last I posted was approximately 1 month ago. It has only happened 2x since. Almost feels like it had to learn itself in a way. Haven’t had any issues with it engaging drive in maybe 3 weeks. Hoping it stays this way. On the other hand I absolutely enjoy my new purchase and would do it again if I had too. Will keep y’all posted.

I had my oil changed last week at a local dealership, and brought up this issue from previous threads as I experienced lurching a couple of times during my first 500 miles.

They found a TSB for the transmission issue and repaired the issue for me under warranty. (I don’t know what was involved in the repair.)

There would be many interested folks over on the Shifter Knob Issues thread that would love to know that TSB if it indeed is a fix.

Interesting, do thank you for sharing this information. Will be contacting the dealer and see what they have to say.

Any way we can get the TSB number? That would be a great help since most dealers are lazy and won't fix anything that isn't acting up when they test drive it.

Mine did it at DELIVERY and continues last couple of days. Dropped off at Dealer this morning.
Probably replacing transmission

Special Order 2019 Lonestar North Edition, Hemi, 3.21 rear, 4x4, now has 530 miles...

When I brought my 19' in a few weeks ago for recalls/oil change they had a few TSB's to do, one was for the transmission. Prior to this I didn't have any shifting/engagement issues. After the update, when I shift to drive it really engages right away, and sometimes kind of hard if you are still rolling. I've learned to take my time and stoo before I shift. I'll take a firm engage any day y over not engaging at all.

Update: Waiting on authorization, 7-10 days for NEW Transmission.
They gave me loaner and have treated me great!

I'm getting a new transmission as well....Mine didn't do it every time but I took a video and showed the service manager at my dealer.
