New to the forum and definitely not a gear head so bear with me. Lent my truck to my 20 year old son (first mistake) yesterday, and now this morning the truck will not start. Lights, dashboard all come on so getting some power. Checked battery and registers 12.54 volts cold with MM. Tried to jump truck with wife's Honda CRV and no luck. Researched on line and found that perhaps the truck could be placed in neutral using the orange latch release under the parking brake. I removed the panel and manually placed in neutral using the latch. Tried to start and still nothing. Is it possible that my son turned the vehicle off while not in park and somehow this triggers some safety feature that prevents me from starting the truck? I would like to avoid enriching my local dealer's service department anymore than I have to especially a quick fix is available. Thanks for any and all assistance.

2019 Laramie, Been dealing with this for 3 months. Started as a click, but would start after a few "click" attempts, replaced battery, started but was still a slower turnover, all was well until yesterday. Hit the button, click again.
I hooked up my charger and tried again, it clicked.. then almost instantly turned over but super slow. ( Keep in mind, brand new battery).
What happened
The starter was going bad, and the draw from the failing starter killed the last battery. The new battery was able to handle it for a time, but now the failing starter is taking to much draw.
Dived in and replaced the starter, not as bad as you think, ( take the stabilizer bar brackets off, HUGE time saver). SHABAM. problem solved, starts like a new truck again, even today at -3.
Once I pulled the starter I instantly saw the problem......this thing is TINY, definitely not made to last.
Hope this helps

I think I am dealing with the same issue and will probably change my starter soon. Did you have to remove anything else in order to get to the starter bolts? After crawling underneath my truck to take a look at the starter it appears to be rather buried in there.

New to the site. I have a 2020 1500 limited. About 2 months ago my truck wouldn’t start. I jumped the truck and it started so I replaced the battery without testing it. About 3 days ago no start with a starter “click”. I jumped the truck no start. I went through the exercise to make sure it wasn’t a key fob or security issue. So I went old school and hit the starter with a hammer and it started immediately. I have 55, 000 on it so I’m out of warranty. I contacted the dealer and the parts guy said we’re seeing a lot of starter failures. I found one locally and will replace tonight. The parts guy said they are on back order which is true since I searched. I had a 2013 with a 5.7 with over 200,000 and had zero issues with it. This one had collision sensor and fuel fill issues. Sad

Late reply, I had to get creative with alot of extensions, and lower the sway bar, but it's doable with some patience

Hey y’all. Just joined today. I have a 2019 Big Horn 4WD with the V6. Tried to remote start and manual start and nothing. Came to the forum and headed the advice. Swapped in a new starter (used an articulated head ratchet, a 6” extension, and an elbow joint in order to deal with that stupid bracket in the way). Still clicking after starter so I replaced the battery and boom, everything back in working order. I’ve seen some folks talking about the RF module being an issue and I believe mine may be coming to the end if it’s life but I’ll crest that hill when I get there. Hope this helps!

Yes it is buried but not to bad. Took me couple hrs and a lot of parts running to get it out

Thanks for sharing your experience. Glad you got your truck running again. Just curious why you jumped straight to the starter and not troubleshoot the battery first?

Mine was a flange problem with the coupler right in front of the muffler, had a wide gap in inside section, Had it cut out and a pipe welded over it at muffler shop, cheaper and do not have to worry about flange. since then, not an issue.
