I have a 2019 Ram 1500 Bighorn 5.7 Hemi that I believe the RF hub has gone out in. I have the part on order (of course it's on backorder), but I was wondering, is this going to be plug and play or does the dealership have to do some programing? If it does need programming, can the AphaOBD accomplish this or is it a dealer only type thing?

Appreciate any assistance I can receive.

Daniel

The dealer will have to perform the rf hub replace programming and program your existing fobs to it. AlfaOBD can’t do it.

So I have Alfa and a separate fob programmer, would the dealer still need to be involved to program the rf hub itself, or is it just the lack of Alfa being able to program the fob that makes this a dealer visit?

It might be possible with the fob programmer (I have the same one). The secret key info from the BCM and PCM needs to be transferred, and I’m not sure if this will automatically be done when the fob is programmed. Otherwise, the dealer needs to perform the rf hub replace procedure in order to get that info transferred. AlfaOBD can’t do anything at all with the rf hub as far as any functions that require the PIN.

I appreciate your response sir. That's what I was afraid of, good thing for roadside assistance to drag it to the dealer with the electric parking brake engaged :)
