My 2019 Ram is a 4X4, without air suspension and without ORP suspension. It’s stock Bridgstones on OEM wheels is industry leading in ride quality as all of you know.
As a result, I researched intently to alter the appearance of the stock Ram, which looks very much like an SUV, particularly with the ARE topper.
I refused to spend 4-6k on aftermarket wheels, tires, and suspension lifts. Personally, I could not justify the expense, not with a family to support.
Therefore, I chose the following and the result is the aggressive, masculine look, I was looking for, with very little negative affect on ride quality. I will elaborate below.
$1380 installed from Discount Tire! 275/60/20 Goodyear Duratrac on OEM 20” wheels.
I was amazed, the tires alone improved to ride quality over the stock Bridgestones. This size, and price, when factoring in performance has left me thoroughly satisfied. These are amazing tires!
I priced 285/60/20 tires and larger and once again, I could not justify the absurd increase in price per tire. Up to $380 or more per tire.
2” Readylift leveling kit $400 from Amazon
Local installation $390.00 total cost for leveling kit with installation, $ 790.00
Once again, no way was I going with a preload spacer lift kit and ruin the ride. Nor was I prepared to pay MOPAR’s ridiculous MSRP on their 2” lift. I don’t care for the Bigfoot look either so 4 to 6 inch lifts were out of the question.
If the discretionary income was there, I would have likely chosen the 2” MOPAR. I considered Bilsteins, but wasn’t confident with piece mealing upper control arms, ORP rear springs, etc.
The ready lift level /w top hat spacers stiffened the Rams ride. Do not let anyone mislead you. If you level/lift your truck, you will lose some or all of the stock Rams compliant ride.
That said, I am happy with the minimal change to stock ride. It’s a bit more firm, without being harsh.
My conclusion is $2100 for these changes was reasonable, resulting in the more aggressive masculine look, the stock Laramie was lacking, without losing much ride quality.
