The dealership claims my rotary gear selector module has shorted out and needs to be replaced. They want $750 to do this. I can buy a new module for about $300. My question, is how do I remove the old module and do I just plug it in? Does it need programed to operate? Is there any videos?

Not sure how this is done. I think gear selector comes as an assembly. I would think it would be a direct plug in swap. Make sure you get the correct one for your vehicle (2wd, 4wd, diff lock, etc).

From this diagram, there are three screws that hold it, possibly coming in from the front (assuming the image is correct). That means a cover would have to come off though. I’d have to take a look at mine later.

I’ve seen a video of someone changing out the instrument Cluster, and I do believe there is a cover on it. May have to remove the center stack tho
