I just got my 2019 1500 and the model I chose did not come with the LED bed lighting installed.
My question is has anyone installed the bed light kit (P/N No 82215272AB) in their Ram? More specifically my question is in regards to the computer and wiring or the kit.

1. Is the truck pre-wired to accept the light kit (aka is it just stick the light in and plug and play)
&
2. Does the computer need to be flashed by the dealer to make the lights operate?

Any help is appreciated and my apologies if this is covered somewhere I searched but couldn't find it.

I'll try to ask a tech today

Last time I checked the kit was not available yet, stated it was still in devolpment, funny it comes already on the BUG. Not sure if its wired, I would assume it is.

Saw a kit on ebay looks like some sort of update needs to be installed to make them function properly, so much for plug and play. I want these real bad my truck did not have them.

I just ordered the MOPAR kit off of ebay. It looks like the installation may take a couple of hours. And yes, you have to enable a code to make them work.

Can you post the link where your purchased them from?

Looks like it’s not pre wired. On the Mopar parts site you can look at the instructions. Running the wire back is the biggest part and the dealer needs to add the sales code. I don’t think it’s worth it. I didn’t think they looked very bright when I checked them out in the day time. Keep us updated on the install. I should have ordered the BUG with the lights bedliner and side rails it’s a bargain over piecing it together after.

Yeah I was ok with the $100 and even with having to wire it myself, but that’s a bit of a joke that the dealer has to flash a code to enable them. No way I’m paying the inevitable $75 for that.

I didn’t get the utility group because I didn’t like the rails and frankly wasn’t crazy about the spray in liner.. the joke’s on me, no factory plastic liner available yet, and even though I didn’t get the rails, the bed has all the holes in the side and of course the plastic knockouts for the lights.

Good points but I sure did like them in my 2016 2500. So, it will end up costing me around 200 after the code activation.

My set will be here next week and yes I’ll need my dealer to put the code in for them. With my tonneau cover, it will be worth it for my needs. I’ve spent a lot more on a lot less lol.016FD6F3-34E7-411E-B402-495374FF8382.jpeg

Why couldn't you wire it in on it's own seperate circuit taking power from the battery?

Gotcha, I'm still trying to figure out how to disable the cargo light that comes on all the fricking time. Me? If I was going to put the bed lighting in, I'd wire it directly with a switch in the bed to turn it on when needed.

Other than turning off the entire illuminated entry, I don't think you can just disable the cargo lighting and bed lighting from coming on all the time.

I'm thinking of cutting the power wire to the lights and running those wires to a switched circuit. Now I'm not sure if this is gonna make the EIC freak out or not but I'm down to give it a try.

I'm fairly sure a dealer can program that circuit to "dark mode" to where the cargo light doesn't come on when a door opens. That is generally reserved for LEO use.
